Places to sit on Nicollet Mall: 1. Peavey Plaza, lots of concrete 'benches", a few metal chairs, and the blue Adirondack chairs. One of my fave spots in the city.

so far today, i have thrown my entire closet onto the floor searching for my swimsuit, almost started crying bc i couldn't find my rain jacket (it was on the armchair by the lamp), and couldn't find Chad's water bowl (in the kitchen). this does not bode well for finding google docs later, lol.

Get your mammograms! And, if _you_ find a lump or a bump or a thing that feels off, go in. Don't wait. Might be nothing, might be something, but go in.

I feel for the folks who are going to the airport on the train who get on the Green Line and not the Blue. And also, listen to the announcements, buds. Read the signs. #busride

me, slowly accepting the slide into madness that is people not wearing headphones on public transit #busride

oh my god, duh, no i don't. i remember the more recent one. i think i just remember the feeling of 'we want our buses back' so viscerally, lol.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history. Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.

i went and early voted today and there was a press conference for @keithellison.bsky.social because he knows the importance of getting your vote in and Jana Shortal was there and I got a selfie, and Keith, you're great, but I got to meet Jana Shortal!

And don't worry; the press conference was more than 100 yards away from the polling place, nobody wore their Ellison shirts or carried their signs over to it, and all rules were followed!

the political ads on tv right now in mn are so full of hatred of Somali people. they're racist, and full of dog-whistles, and fear. if you don't live here and you see the ads, they tell such a wrong story about Minnesota.

@keithellison.bsky.social fights for us. Vote for him.

🔊 AG Keith Ellison sued ExxonMobil for lying to Minnesotans about climate change and sticking us with the bill. The guy running against him owns Exxon stock. 🙄 Minnesotans know who we’re voting for. ✅ Re-elect @keithellison.bsky.social by Tuesday, Nov. 3.

tell me a dish you had at a restaurant that made you cry,or you want all the time now. i'll start: the Eastside Pride at Tongue in Cheek literally made me cry with how good it is; and the mushroom dashi at Demi tastes like the best pizza crust i could ever dream of

Checkerboard Pizza. the extra large pepperoni that's so cheesy and greasy if you put the takeout box on your lap on the train ride home, you might have a grease stain on your jeans. maybe. and you'll order it for you & your coworkers, but secretly get mad when they have more than one square.

ooh, the bulgogi breakfast sandwich at Pike Place Market last year. it came with those plastic food service gloves; and i sat in the rain to eat it and it was so messy, and wonderful.

that probably sounds like an insult, but it's not. i want a cup of it every morning when i wake up and in the evening when i go to bed. it's like warm and cosy, and i want more.

I don't _think_ someone is actually smoking weed on this bus, but if they aren't, holy cats. It sure af smells like someone is. #busride

me, when the couple across the counter at dinner are like, "we should have sat next to you because you guys also licked your plates" at the fancy restaurant

sometimes I wish I had a job where I get to wear a lanyard with a name badge. ooh, I have cool lanyards from conferences; maybe I'll just make my own, but it won't be my name. it'll be motivational sayings, or GOTV shift sign-ups, or something like that.

Woo! I only did 2 elections reports in my pajamas this morning; and I am doing the rest in jeans. This is progress!

I can actually see some usefulness in moving buses off of Nicollet Mall. AND i would just encourage you to think beyond 'a couple block walk' if you think that's the biggest barrier to doing so. AND remember we do not live in a city where building out pro-transit infrastructure is prioritized.

Or; it's been prioritized and then vetoed. It can't just be left up to 'we'll get to that later' because it will never be gotten to. Maybe think about what Marquette needs to be to be safe, friendly, and easy to use for transit riders now AND in the future.

Oh, and remember--when you talk about removing public transit from Nicollet Mall, you're talking about removing a good number of the people who are already on the street and who don't need to be lured out with food trucks, or programming. We are part of the vibrant downtown.

Jacob Frey can say all he wants about how moving buses off of Nicollet Mall will be good; but if he actually cared about transit riders and not just the Downtown Council, he'd be out on the streets listening to..................................transit riders.

Or do transit riders just get shuffled over to more concrete; even less inviting spaces? appreciate this: "It’s certainly possible to envision a Nicollet Mall with more people from all walks of Minneapolis life." I know I get a bit "transit is a community' navel-gazey.

But as someone who really does believe that is true: transit riders probably represent more walks of life; and the city should actually be figuring out how to include them, not just shift aside.

There's also an undercurrent of "remove _those_ people who hang out at the bus stops from Nicollet Mall" that is here. If you think that taking the buses off of Nicollet Mall means that more public seating is gonna go up, ooooh. I got a bridge to sell you.

Also, just personally: do transit riders get to enjoy the activation of Marquette too? Hennepin? Do we get the cool artsy seating if it ever comes back? The public art? Public seating? Open storefronts?

The hardest part of reading anything abt Nicollet Mall & pedestrianization is that it never really addresses what happens to transit riders & that experience. The city _may_ have plans for NM but they have zero plans for the other streets.

I know i am making a judgement and maybe it's a little mean, but oh my god the Green Line thru the U stops just reeks of body spray right now. Axe or whatever the trendy one is rn, it's so strong. #busride

might not be more dangerous than a car on Nicollet Mall but 20 bike riders on the sidewalk on Nicollet Mall isn't safe. come on, now. you're just being jerks.

this was a group ride; or at least something organized--3 people wearing safety vests, people rode in a line down the sidewalk but then gathered in a big group at the crosswalk. boo.
