🚨BREAKING: The government's own statistics show there was a *record level of terrorism arrests* in the year leading up to June this year. The vast majority of the enormous increase in terrorism arrests are of grandparents, teenagers and everyone in between for peacefully holding placards.

We're being told to stock up on food this winter, but currently 1 in 5 people across the UK can't afford enough to eat as it is. Help us hit 10,000 signatures before we take our petition to No.10 next week and demand the right to food in UK law 👇🏾 www.amnesty.org.uk/get-involved...

“They shall not pass.” 90 years ago today, as antisemitism and fascism were on the rise throughout Europe, Oswald Mosley’s racist British Union of Fascists planned a provocative march through the Jewish community of East London.

People came together across the country throughout the 1930s to stop fascism. And despite support from some in the media with headlines like “Hurrah for the Blackshirts!” - people organised and beat the BUF on the streets and at the ballot box. They never won a seat in Parliament.

“They shall not pass.” 90 years ago today, as antisemitism and fascism were on the rise throughout Europe, Oswald Mosley’s racist British Union of Fascists planned a provocative march through the Jewish community of East London.

But the people of London met the call “all out against fascism” - and the largest anti-fascist mobilisation in British history took place in what became known as the Battle of Cable Street. Mosley’s fascists were stopped from marching through our streets.

Patients, health workers and communities are clear: we want Palantir out of our NHS. Last night, hundreds of us rallied outside Palantir's London HQ to say so. Thank you to everyone who showed up, from local actions to the rally 💛 #PeopleVsPalantir

Protesters were being ARRESTED for HOLDING UP SIGNS outside the Labour Party Conference yesterday! But this is nothing new. In the UK, OVER 3,500 people have been arrested, with MORE THAN 2,250 formally charged under TERROR LAWS for PEACEFULLY PROTESTING the ban on Palestine Action.

OUTRAGEOUS scenes outside the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool yesterday! But it’s nothing new... In the UK, OVER 3,500 people have been arrested, with MORE THAN 2,250 formally charged under TERROR LAWS for PEACEFULLY PROTESTING the ban on Palestine Action.

There is a chance for the new Prime Minister to stop this absurdity. Protest has always been part of British culture. It makes our communities more RESILIENT, our government more RESPONSIVE and our society more INCLUSIVE – share this video if you agree!

PROTESTING WORKS! Even the Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, agrees. Thanks to millions of people around the world demanding justice for Palestinians, the UK has taken the first steps to help end Israel’s illegal occupation by banning settlement goods and some services.

On Tuesday, the Trades Union Congress passed a motion to support the campaign to enshrine the right to food in UK law. 14.1 million people across our country are living in food poverty. We are the 5th richest country in the world. No one should be going hungry.

Amnesty is joining MPs, campaigners and people with lived experience to ensure this basic right is enshrined in law. Thank you to the Bakers, Food & Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA) for proposing this motion and the work they've done to secure support for it.

BREAKING: Yesterday morning Tiananmen activists were sentenced to prison for organising peaceful vigils. The sentencing of activists who organised peaceful vigils to commemorate the Tiananmen crackdown is a triple tragedy.

Lawyer Chow Hang-tung was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison, and fellow activist Lee Cheuk-yan was sentenced to seven years - despite them committing no internationally recognised crime. They must be immediately and unconditionally released.

Usama Ghanem can return to university! 🎓 Last year, King's College London suspended Usama after he participated in pro-Palestine protests, which led to his student visa being revoked. An internal review has now found no reason for that to stand - a win from student campaigning across the UK 🎉

The fourth Hong Kong Film Festival UK (HKFFUK) is again partnering with Amnesty UK. We hope you’ll join us for two joint film screenings around the theme of "Narrating Migration" exploring migration, identity and movement.

🚨BREAKING: Today’s announcement is hugely welcome. The Foreign Secretary promised a ‘comprehensive reset’ and today could be the sea change that is needed. The UK Government has committed to concrete action and has recognised Israel’s unlawful occupation and ethnic cleansing.

But today is not the end of the road. The test now is whether these commitments are properly implemented and enforced, and followed by the wider action needed to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and meet the UK’s obligations under international law.

The commitment to ban trade in settlement goods and some services, prohibit financing of settlements, refuse arms that contribute to the occupation, and support the genocide case before the International Court of Justice represents a significant change of course.

Racist hate crimes in Northern Ireland have risen to their HIGHEST LEVELS since records began more than two decades ago. According to police statistics published today, the surge was driven by the organised racist violence that occurred in parts of Northern Ireland in June.
