I'm staring down the barrel of my 40s and coping by purchasing a pair of dinosaur-print overalls. I lived my thirties almost exclusively in leggings and t-shirts, and it's time I wear something I actually think is fun!! I am going into my 40s giving Peak Quirky Millennial!

Listen, OBVIOUSLY I'm excited to hang with other screenwriters next week, and I always come away from AFF feeling so creatively inspired but also I cannot wait to eat my weight in breakfast tacos

Being chronically ill is crazy because what do you mean I just spent the first two and a half hours of my day breathing into bags every 15 minutes so they can check my guts

I’m taking a medical test tomorrow that requires a strict diet today: Eggs, potatoes, rice, beef, pork, chicken, tofu only. Salt and pepper only. Water, black tea, black coffee only. It’s only 11:30am and I’m already annoyed lmao

It's the day of my fundraiser show for two incredible breast cancer organizations providing direct support for breast cancer patients and survivors. Even if you aren't in Chicago to come to the show, you can still donate and support through the event page! www.eventbrite.com/e/breast-in-...

Tonight my friends celebrated their wedding at a retro bowling alley with immaculate vibes and a puppet served us ice cream bars It was flawless I love my friends and I love living in Chicago

I'm dealing with low iron as well as some gastro issues, so my doc doesn't want to start me on a stomach-upsetting supplement, and is recommending I up my iron via food intake. After doing some research, respectfully, how the FUCK am I supposed to eat 18mg of iron a DAY??

Please read both posts before responding: I am looking for screenwriters (ideally folks I've interacted with before) who might be interested in guest hosting on my podcast The Writer's Cut! For the holidays, my co-host Trevor will be watching and discussing iterations of A Christmas Carol.. (1/2)

..while I work on A Christmas Carol at my money job. Most of the highly-coveted versions are covered already (Muppets, Scrooged, etc) but we are still looking for guests to watch and discuss: SCROOGE (1935) SCROOGE (1970) Hit me up if you’re interested or have questions! (2/2)

Went to my fave lab work place (vs my doctor’s office) to try again today and they got me in one stick, no problem at all. Hate that I’m chronically ill enough to have a “fave lab work place”, but glad I found them

I told the phlebotomist that my veins are tricky, she said “I’ll assess your veins”, and then COULDN’T GET ANY BLOOD OUT

The Haunting of Hill House is among my most favorite pieces of spooky season media, and Midnight Mass is one of my husband’s faves. I believe this is because I am more mentally ill than I am Catholic and my husband is more Catholic than he is mentally ill In this essay I will—

Working with circus performers has been fascinating and horrifying; I adore every single one of them and also hope I never do a circus show again. If there’s one thing I love, it’s writing about subcultures. Circus dramedy feature when???

I love my job because a full-grown man just ran up to my coworker and me, whisper-screamed “I RIPPED MY PANTS”, then we had to shine a light on his crotch and ass in the middle of backstage to find the tear (He did not, in fact, rip his pants)

If I absolutely had to have my birthday on a two show day at work, then today was everything I could have possibly hoped for - full of hugs, treats, trinkets, and kind words from the sweetest collection of people I’ve ever been lucky enough to work with. 39. Wild.

I started two feature screenplays this year and I have decided I WILL finish one of them before the year ends. Both have supernatural elements; one is more comedy/rom-com adjacent and the other is more family drama. Now I just have to choose which to focus on

I'm a part of a group that gives us prompts to write a short play in four days, and did I expect to come away with a solo piece about J. Robert Oppenheimer grappling with his legacy as Anubis prepares to weigh his heart against a feather? No, but it's what my brain came up with!

It’s that time of year where I get a million emails about my annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month burlesque show fundraiser BREAST IN SHOW and get my hopes dashed when I momentarily assume each one is about my breast cancer burlesque show feature script BREAST IN SHOW 🥲

On 9/11/2001 I was 13 years old living in New Jersey about an hour outside of NYC. Many of my classmates lost their parents that day. I try not to get too overly reverential or “Never Forget”-y, but damn it sucks to see that this has became a punchline for younger generations.

When I was probably 14 or 15, my mom told me that I should pursue a career in medicine, since I liked helping people 20+ years later and she was right about helping people - now I just help them tape their belts in place and cut them out of costumes when quick changes go poorly

I feel like I can sense the growth in myself and my community as a screenwriter, like “oh wow I’m a second rounder!” vs “not even a Semifinalist? hard pass” My standards are higher and that’s okay!! (Also AFF is a lot of fun and I might go anyway and that’s okaaay!)

My road trip comedy feature BIG SKY COUNTRY is an AFF Second Rounder! Can confirm that I got both an email and a phone call about it. Still waiting to hear about a stage play, fingers crossed

Told some of the performers at work that I’ll be out for three days of the run and they all lost their minds and told me (jokingly) that I’m not allowed to go It’s good to feel loved like that!
