It could only be 5🌟 for me. Autumn has long been my favourite season. I’ve never been to Sussex - until now. So enjoyed being immersed in my tour and sharing her memories and experiences, which I see imprinted within her fabulous writing over the years.

I discovered Sarah Hall this year and have spent 2026 reading all her work. If you are a Hall fan this short book, which was a lecture she gave this year in Manchester and London, allows you an insight into her writing and answered many of the questions that were in my mind. 5🌟

We really are blessed with some super writers in Cumbria. Been wanting to begin to read M.W. Craven for a while. This one is courtesy of my Sister in law. 😀📚

Having just finished book 2 of this Geomancer trilogy, I’m going straight into book 3 to see how this epic adventure concludes! #Booksky #Fiction #Fantasy

Started a potter in the garden, two pots tidied and was all done in. Enjoyed a sit on the garden swing in the light rain. Sofa time with my pal and a new book.

Brilliant! 5🌟.Have got Belsay, the next one in the series to read, but as it’s a Christmas setting I’m going to leave it to the end of the year. Have ordered Berwick which should arrive in September to start the new year. The next book after that is due to be published in 2028 so I will have a wait!

Tearing myself away from the Shackleton series for a while ( it’s hard because they are so engaging). Time to return to DCI Ryan! #CrimeFiction

Loved this book 5🌟 from me. The other three have just arrived. I will be making a return to the Shackleton family in due course! #Booksky #HistoricalFiction

Discovered this historical fiction series recently, setting is my birth town of Whitehaven, 5 miles down the coast. We get a tall ship or two sailing g into the harbour most years. The Nao Santa Maria sailed into the town at high tide yesterday, Tuesday July 28 at around 11.40am.

Well this one I enjoyed! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 There are two other books with the same character , prequels to Oh William! Maybe I will source them sometime in the future. #Booksky #Reading #Fiction

Next read, final book in the back catalogue of Sarah Hall, my newly discovered author this year. Love wolves, would choose as my familiar. #Booksky #Fiction

Found two critters in the garden. First time we have ever met an Elephant Hawk Moth. The moth should appear next May and looks very beautiful!

The taties are flowering, won’t be long before we are enjoying minted butter taties for our family meals! The onions are looking good too! 😋🧅🥔

Completed a few household chores, husband is out at the old farts club, now sat in a darkened room with two fans going. New book at the ready and a coffee with my wee pal at my side, I’m done! Peace! #Booksky #Fiction #ShortStories

I always enjoy Jeffrey Archer’s writing. The William Warwick series have been great. Let’s see how this one measures up! #Booksky #Fiction #Crime

Feels like it’s taken me ages to read this one. I can’t say I found it an enjoyable read. I found it to be a triggering text and had an overkill of violence. I was glad when I’d finished it. Shuggie Bain had the same depressive impact on me as a reader. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Onwards… #Booksky #Fiction

We had winds and heavy rain last night. Our back garden faces onto the coast and always bears the brunt of the weather coming in off the Irish Sea. Our lovely pot of Delphiniums took a hit. Now in a vase on the window ledge. Didn’t even get a chance to open their buds.

This one seems to have been getting positive reviews on here from what I’ve seen. Have read A man called Ove but otherwise I’ve not explored this author. #Booksky #Fiction

Next up a bit of Cumbrian dystopia. “ The Lake District’s answer to The Handmaid’s Tale… (Guardian) #Booksky #DystopianFiction
