Tomorrow I'm heading to Bury St Edmunds (I didn't even know he was dead!) to moderate this conversation about Marilyn Monroe. Tickets still remaining, I believe. @burylitfest.bsky.social www.burylitfest.co.uk/product-page...

burylitfest.co.ukMarilyn Monroe: Fact & Fiction | 12:30 Sun 11 Oct | UMH | Bury St Eds Lit FestShe was perhaps the most photographed woman of the twentieth century - and perhaps the most misunderstood. Marilyn Monroe has inspired countless novels, biographies and films, but the real woman behind the myth remains elusive, contradictory and endlessly compelling. Two authors - one writing from a fictional perspective, one from a biographical - bring their very different takes on Marilyn's dazzling and tragic life to this richly illuminating conversation. Moderated by authorAndrew Hook - whose work has also used Marylin’s life as inspiration, Julie Owen Moylan and Andrew Wilson ask: who was the real Norma Jean, really? And why does the dazzling life of Marylin Monroe still capture our imagination? I'm delighted to announce that my short story collection, "Tokens of Grief", will be published by PS Publishing in 2027. These uncanny stories revolve around themes of grief and were written cathartically following my father's death in 2026, so I'm very pleased that this collection has found a home.

New short story, "Weather Reports", can be read online @saltpublishing.com in their House magazine. My story riffs off Jacques Demy's 1964 film, "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg", but you don't need to know the film to appreciate the story. Enjoy! www.saltpublishing.com/blogs/house-...

Delighted to announce that my short film, "Armadillotown", is a nominee in the Experimental category at the London Night Film awards. Many thanks to @london.nff for including it in their selection. Awards take place on the 22nd October at Everyman King’s Cross 14–18 Handyside Street, London N1C 4DN.

Yesterday I attended the brilliant SykeHouse Film and Writer’s Festival where my short film, "Armadillotown", not only premiered and was well-received, but which later went on to win in the Best Experimental Short Film category. It was an absolute blast! Thanks to Dave Jeffery for the photo.

For those who have been asking if the film "Union City" is available to stream (in connection with my book on the film, of course), then I've been advised it's currently available here: rarefilmm.com/2018/10/unio... And then buy my book :)

For those who missed the unboxing yesterday, my copies of "Union City" arrived. It's truly a beautiful book! It's not only about a film, but about filmmaking itself. I hope those who read it enjoy it! #blondie #deborahharry #unioncity

I was one of the judges for the 2025 Otherwise Awards and we've now reached our decision over the winner, the honour list, and the longlist. It was really interesting whittling down the 161 considered works to this number. Some great reads here!
