The Aus Gov can't condemn Netanyahu, a war criminal using genocide to delay a corruption case that will likely kick him out of power, but will have a go at the Palestinian Authority? Right. I'm not saying I support the election delays, but the gov priorities, after 3 years of genocide, say it all.

abc.net.auPenny Wong urges Palestinian Authority to hold elections 'without delay'Australia's foreign minister accuses the Palestinian Authority of undermining the prospect of a two-state solution by postponing its first elections in two decades.

Actual boomer tech moments from this trip: 1. Had to show one how to change from front to back phone camera. 2. Had to explain to another that the reason they got messages in the hotel but not at the restaurant when their phone was in flight mode the entire time was that they had wifi at the hotel.

I arrived in Seville 2 hours ago & have already joined a protest march. I heard a protest so, of course, went toward it. Thought the people looked like my kind. Had it confirmed when I saw a hammer & sickle. Was about an old woman who was kicked out of her home, part of a growing crisis in Spain.

Now on a different tour (in Portugal) and just had an awful interaction with another group member who called me dogmatic and judgemental for advocating for my rights as a trans person.

JKR came & I mentioned she's a transphobe who supports causes that kill trans people. This person said everyone's entitled to their opinions. I said there's a difference between thinking something & actively doing things that hurt people.

I'd also let this person know earlier when she referred to 'gypsies' that it is now considered a slur and the preferred term is Roma people. It seems that's enough to make me dogmatic and judgemental.

Malta is such a contradiction. Great LGBTQ+ legal protections and legalised weed (smoking in public, weed shops, bars serving cannabis gin and massage parlours advertising services with CBD oil). Yet abortion and sex work are illegal.

At Malta Pride March last night, I saw a person wearing an "eKOALAty" t-shirt & asked if they were also Australian. Turned out, they're the Australian Ambassador to Malta! While chatting, the Maltese Minister for Equality & Civil Services introduced herself to the Ambassador, so I met her too!

Yesterday, I was reminded that being non-binary means I am, in fact, just wearing an asymmetric outfit. Or am I a half-superhero? Or caught in a wind? Jokes aside, I do enjoy seeing this inclusion.

Holiday Karen tale #3: Over lunch, 'Karen' asked if she could ask me about some queer topics so she could learn. In her 1st question, she referred to the "LGBTQXYZ community". I told her that was offensive. The way she suddenly got small, as if surprised at being called out, was very rewarding.

Holiday Karen tale #2: On day 1, she asked what my pronoun pin was about & I explained. She said she didn't know much about this stuff but was accepting, although she used to work with a "girl" who was polyamorous, which Karen thought was a bit much. I stared at her deadpan & said "I'm that, too."

My tour group through Malta is mainly older poms. Today, I mentioned that I sunburn easily regardless of what I do, and the know-it-all Karen of the group tried to educate me on sun protection. Someone from a country that freaks out when the UV reaches 8, talking down to an Aussie about the sun.

There's nothing that induces gender dysphoria quite like travelling. Constantly being called "ma'am" and feeling like it's not appropriate to correct people. I appreciate that it's meant for respect and politeness, but the impact on me as a non-binary person is the opposite.

Why yes, a rooftop pool at my first hotel *is* the perfect way to begin acclimatising to the Malta heat (26 min to 31 max) after travelling from Canberra where having the occasional double digit temperature on my walk to work feels balmy.

I should expect it by now, but I'm always shocked when I encounter transphobia in Canberra. Service person at Rebel called me "ma'am" & I casually corrected as I usually do by saying "not a ma'am, I'm non-binary". They then got that rude, dismissive tone transphobes do & blustered a bit. 🧵 1/4

Even when I asked to speak to the manager and, in relating the story, broke off to respectfully ask the service person their pronouns, they responded "Whatever, I'm not offended." Thankfully the manager was lovely, though that led to me shaking & crying a bit while finishing the interaction. 🧵 3/4

I encounter transphobic stuff regularly, but the audacity of this from a person working in uniform in a service capacity, even in front of their manager, shows that transphobes feel so empowered they think there won't be consequences. This is why we must continue to fight for our rights. 4/4

When I stated that I didn't appreciate it, that I get enough marginalisation as it is, the person (who appeared to be a middle-aged cis white man) said they got plenty every day too. 🧵 2/4

Damn it, why does every actor I really like turn out to be a douchebag? I was literally talking to someone two nights ago about how much I enjoy Nicholas Hoult. 😢 Your paycheck is not worth supporting a project that will literally fund violence and hate against trans folks.

harrypotter.comHarry Potter | Nicholas Hoult to play Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter HBO Original Series | Wizarding WorldWe can now officially reveal that the most charming and well-dressed Hogwarts professor is ready for his close-up. The Albanese Govt refused to commit to eliminating legally allowed discrimination against trans & intersex people, or even run an education campaign to reduce stigma against queer folks. I'm scared for the direction this country is going. To the point that I'm seriously planning to leave Australia.

abc.net.auGovernment rejects all UN recommendations on LGBTQIA+ rightsThe Albanese government has accepted the lowest number of recommendations made by the UN Human Rights Council in 20 years, with none protecting the LGBTQIA+ community.

You remember how people said the left's outrage at antifa being labelled a terrorist organisation was overblown and wasn't going to result in the dire consequences leftists were suggesting?

In this week's episode of "news that surprises no one": Younger people are fucked over by our tax system compared to older people. I am honestly thinking of starting a YouTube channel for this type of "shocking" news.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded. “This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.” www.advocate.com/politics/nat...
