Watched the new live-action 5cm per Second movie. Had to ask myself if I still have my flash drive with ALL the anime mp3's that I downloaded all through college and...uh...the rest of the 2000 years. I do. And you super need / want any of these - just ask!

Useful context in a job posting. "The Lab’s campus is only a 45-minute flight (or ~3 hour drive) from Seattle or Portland, and is serviced by the convenient PSC airport, connected to 8 major hubs." Oh, yeah, at least Secret clearance required.

Using ChatGPT to help me with my writing is not something I am interested in. But just *having the option* is making me really think about how to improve my style, both writing and speaking. I need to be much better about shorter sentences. And *a lot* better abt not overusing certain words.

lol / well, there goes that possible future career direction... "Dear Mikhail Koulikov, Thank you for your interest in Louis Vuitton as an employer. After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with your application for the position of Intellectual Property Assistant, Seasonal"

*Also* so much of the fun of series like Index/Railgun/ITEM/etc. to me is seeing how a Japanese creator comes up with different superpowers for several different charas. Especially for those who don't really have superpowers. Like Uihara. Who just has super good memory and is really diligent.

So, Fall '26 anime watch list. Really should not be surprising. ...except one? (...but *which one*?!?) (...and yes, I can't be bothered to watch not!Crunchy. And there is nothing super important this season that's only out in fansub)...

Since we're on an a bit of a nostalgia kick. I always found this chart, from a 2010 essay, to be absolutely fascinating even then. And it's become more and more fascinating since. U.S. manga publishers, by volume released, 2005-2008 How many of these are you even *aware of*.

Lines that can? go on a t-shirt? “Those people out there just assume you’re going to do a good job, so just do a good job.” Line I make an effort to - not forget?

Omg omg omg ::begins stalking:: ...even if Towa does look like a potato 🥔

Interested in reviewing the new monograph Text and Image: Making Meaning in Manga and Comics (U. of Minnesota Press)? Let me know! Would consider both formal academic reviews, and more casual write-ups like you would see in a newspaper or on ANN. www.upress.umn.edu/978151791958...

Where are the reviews, the hype, the mentions! Why am I just finding out *today* - from the publisher! "In Next Time on Dragon Ball, Vincent Haddad investigates how the franchise has maintained huge global demand despite its formulaic plotlines." www.upress.umn.edu/978151791956...

And, one episode in, the new Index/Railgun-universe series is so much fun *because* these girls (who are not the girls you are thinking of) were so much fun in Railgun S

I'm sure I'm like the no. 100,000 person to ask this, but - how do you explain the idea of White Pages - to someone who is in HS now? ...and the idea that it was totally normal to look up *anyone*'s address and phone number. And kind of suspicious if your address/phone number were not listed.

Gotta say, something like a comparative reading of workplace comedies in Japanese animation - is a presentation or even a full paper that damn near writes itself. You got Shirobako, you got Aggrettsuko, and now you got Smoking Behind the Supermarket! Easy publication?

Can I corrupt ChatGPT? This is now how it responds. "This is where Teilhard becomes especially interesting in the context you have been asking about concerning European social movements and intellectual history."
