A grizzled butch detective hunting the serial killer who’s targeting hot guys who oddly look a lot like popular streamers —— Sketched while listening to a playthrough of Skin Stapler! I’m not much of a gore person but I knew some of the streamers in it

Hi Authors on Bluesky How do yall go about doing character descriptions in your stories? Do you weave things in bit by bit over the course of the story, or do you state outright descriptors like race, clothes, hair color/style, etc in quick succession? Or is there a third option I'm not considering?

For year's now I'd been paranoid about having (what when I originally started writing would be considered) My Immortal-esque character descriptions, but I let some friends read the first half of my manuscript draft and they were GOBSMACKED when I showed them the character art I'd made.

Also, for funsies: AASB Nell would be a poor minstrel, but enjoying his life traveling and recounting tales for folks LTPtLPT Velos would be a rich kid with scummy start ups kinda guy. Big into brand labels and his image

Any authors on Bsky How do you decide the age range you’re writing for? Do you usually decide it before you start writing/drafting the story, or partway through, or finish a draft and then go ‘hm this could be middle grade or YA lets rewrite aiming for this one?’

After a spot of googling - I think what's considered YA in my head and what's considered YA in reality are different, pretty sure my thing is YA
