The people of DC will never allow this to happen. If this map makes you upset, join us on our lobby day on Nov. 12th demanding that Congress not give one cent to advancing the President’s destruction of East Potomac Park www.eventbrite.com/e/protect-ea...

Trump releases his plan to re-do the East Potomac Park golf course in DC. His graphic does not show the current road which runs around Hains Point, or the picnic and memorial areas at the end. Getting rid of those public areas would be terrible.

Meanwhile, we will use the full force of the law to ensure no additional construction occurs until all required legal reviews are complete. And there is no way the Administration can complete all required reviews before Nov. 15th

Finally, the President’s post makes clear that the blitzkrieg on the park last weekend was directly related to his long-term redevelopment project, despite a sworn statement stating the opposite. There must be consequences for this clear and obvious lie to the court

RESOLVED: No taxation without representation. I had a wonderful time last night debating DC statehood with the YPU and immersing myself in the oldest and largest collegiate debate society in the United States. It was a pleasure to share our struggle with some of the future leaders of our country.

Hains Point Hoopla 3.0 with @waba.org and Save East Po was a success! The people of DC do not want Donald Trump to take East Potomac Park from the people and turn it into a luxury destination. I'm working hard on Capitol Hill to stop it

This article confirms what we had suspected: Trump wants to take East Potomac Park away from everyone but his rich friends. We cannot let him take this public space from us. I am working hard to make sure these plans are never realized wapo.st/46XeZTk

wapo.stTrump’s upscale golf plan could destroy a D.C. haven for cyclists, runnersThe president wants to eliminate the public road that loops around the Hains Point peninsula, allowing the golf course to stretch to the water’s edge.

I had a substantive conversation with @merkley.senate.gov today on how to pass DC statehood and voting rights through the Senate; as well as how we can ensure the federal government is managing public lands in DC to benefit Washingtonians. I’m looking forward to working together!

We must never forget the 2,977 people we lost 25 years ago at the Pentagon, World Trade Center, and on UA flight 93, where 40 brave souls stopped an attack on DC. Every life is sacred; today is a reminder of what happens when sick individuals lose sight of this essential truth

Thousands of rescue workers, residents, and survivors died or suffered severe illnesses from toxic dust exposure at Ground Zero. NYC has released data showing that the air around the WTC after 9/11 was dangerous to breathe. We must do everything we can to help those still affected

It was a pleasure talking today with @pocan.house.gov, potentially the next Chair of the Appropriations subcommittee that writes the portion of the federal budget dealing with DC, about how we can work together to write a federal budget that supports DC rather than attacking us

I helped mobilize DC against the RCV ban and make it clear to the DNC how strongly DC opposed this effort. Then I worked with pro-RCV state parties around the country to fight back and personally whipped DNC members to vote against the ban. I'm proud to see the hard work pay off

Ranked choice voting is here to stay in DC. This means that if the presidential candidate you vote for in 2028 drops out after you submit your ballot, your vote won't be thrown away. That's how democracy should work

We are facing a real risk that the @democrats.org will be the only entity to actually nullify DC law during the Trump presidency. One thing this article doesn’t dig into—DC’s RCV rules for presidential primaries are fully compatible with DNC requirements. A short 🧵 washingtonian.com/2026/08/14/d...

Votes are reallocated to candidates with more votes, and once all remaining candidates have cleared the threshold, counting is complete and delegates are awarded. We know that this works with the DNC’s rules because numerous state parties used that approach without issue in 2020

If the RCV count can be run compatibly with the DNC’s rules, why would the DNC stop states from using a system that works for them? The DNC needs to let states decide and strip the RCV ban out of the rules

The party insiders pushing the ban claim that RCV isn’t compatible with proportional allocation of delegates (see below article for details). This is not true. DC’s rules only eliminate candidates if they are below the 15% threshold for receiving delegates www.newsweek.com/ranked-choic...

newsweek.comWhy Democrats are fighting over ranked choice voting in the 2028 electionThe dispute over ranked choice voting reflects a broader rift in the DNC between state party officials and the D.C. establishment.

This is a HUGE deal for public safety in DC. Swift and certain consequences for crimes has been shown to have a large impact in reducing crime. More judges mean perpetrators get convicted and sent to jail and innocent people are cleared faster. Congress finally did their job!

About 20 minutes ago, the Senate voted 51-47 to confirm the en bloc package of 74 executive nominations, including the 6 pending DC Superior Court nominees & 2 DC Court of Appeals nominees! There are now 6 remaining DC Superior Court vacancies which need to be filled…

We now no longer have vacancies on the DC Court of Appeals. We do still have six vacancies on the Superior Court (8.7% of authorized judges). I hope President Trump chooses nominees from the Judicial Nomination Commission soon and that they are quickly confirmed by the Senate

Winning in 2026 is step one. Protecting our democracy requires organizing, ending filibuster excuses, and forcing our leaders to pass a new Voting Rights Act and DC statehood. We have to win power and actually use it. #protectdemocracy #dcstatehood #votingrights

Banning RCV leaves us with two options: counting ONLY first-choice picks on a ranked ballot, an un-administrable rule that disenfranchises our majority Black and Brown city, or doing a full RCV count and risking the DNC refusing to seat DC’s delegates.

Black voting power means DC Statehood. Period. I spoke at the Progressive Baptist National Convention about attacks on Black voting rights—and why DC must be part of that conversation. Taxation without representation has no place in modern America. #DC51 #StatehoodForDC #VotingRights

East Potomac Park belongs to the people of DC, not to the President and his wealthy friends. Trump wants to turn this into a luxury playground for the ultra-rich. On Saturday, Washingtonians came out to Hains Point to say loud and clear: This park is not for sale #SaveEastPo

Trump wants to turn East Potomac Park into an luxury destination for his rich & powerful friends. But DC is fighting back! I was proud to stand with @wabadc @saveeastpo and our DC community at Hains Point today to tell Donald Trump: East Potomac Park is not for sale. 🚲⛳️🌸

🚨🚨The House Oversight Committee is voting on Wednesday on a bill that would functionally end DC Home Rule. It would stop DC from making ANY changes to our tax code without congressional approval, making it impossible to govern ourselves 🚨 🚨 www.notus.org/metro/dc-tax...

notus.orgNew House Bill Would Block D.C. From Raising TaxesThe bill, which faces an uphill battle in the Senate, would keep the D.C. Council from raising taxes without approval from Congress.

You would never see National Guard troops deployed to any other place in the US without local representatives even knowing. DC residents deserve the same respect as everyone else. Read my full comments on the 2029 extension in @npr.org : www.npr.org/2026/07/14/n...
