Had such a great time at the #ASLOSIL26 meeting a few weeks ago in Montreal! 😊 🌊 Always so fun reconnecting with collaborators and friends and meeting lots of new people. I gave a talk on my graduate research and co-chaired a session for the first time!

I also got the chance to represent the GLEON Student Association through an oral presentation about our initiatives, and through conversations with other aquatic sciences student and ECR groups about ways we can collaborate and pursue joint initiatives.

Very excited to be in Montreal for the #ASLOSIL26 meeting this week! I will be giving a talk on Thursday in SS082 on zooplankton mediated C fluxes, and co-presenting a talk in EP010 on Wednesday about GLEON Student Association initiatives. Looking forward to an exciting week! 🌊

I am recruiting graduate students to start in fall 2027! Several potential projects, generally focused on analyzing and forecasting changes in aquatic carbon cycling. #ASLOSIL26 I am around all weekβ€”please reach out if you would like to find a time to chat! abbylewis.github.io/join_the_lab...

Registration is open for the 2026 Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) All-Hands’ Meeting taking place at Lake Banyoles, Spain from August 30 - September 4, 2026! Participation support for students/ECRs is available through the Freshwater Futures Fellowship (deadline April 24). 🌎🌍🌏

If you conduct mesocosm-based research, consider submitting an abstract to our session SS082 β€œMesocosm-based approaches for tackling grand challenges in aquatic ecosystems” at the upcoming #ASLOSIL26 Joint Meeting in Montreal! Contributions from students and other ECRs are especially encouraged. 🌊

We sampled various sub-habitats within 16 experimental ponds at the CEREEP-ECOTRON Île de France PLANAQUA Experimental Lake Platform day and night to assess zooplankton communities and migration behaviors.

We found differences between pelagic and littoral habitats in terms of zooplankton community composition and diversity, and a wide diversity of vertical and horizontal migration behaviors across crustacean and rotifer genera.

In this study, we investigated daily vertical and horizontal migration behaviors of crustacean zooplankton and rotifers in shallow experimental ponds, and how these behaviors and the communities themselves responded to differences in planktivory and dissolved oxygen concentrations across ponds.

Hello bluesky world! πŸ¦‹ Finally making the jump from twitter (should have done this a while ago). I’m a PhD student at the University of Vermont, USA studying freshwater zooplankton ecology and behavior, specifically drivers and ecosystem impacts of zooplankton diel vertical migration (DVM) behavior.

You are up to date.
