ANSUT stands with contract academic staff, who bring lasting knowledge, mentorship, and expertise to our campuses and communities. Their contracts shouldn’t be disposable. Find out if your campus has an active Fair Employment Now! campaign: app.sosha.ai/s/QecZKK0s

On September 30, we remember children lost to residential schools and honour Survivors, families and communities. We recognize Indigenous scholars and students—their knowledge, leadership and aspirations. Reconciliation calls for listening, respect and action, today and every day.

NS provided $590M in PSE operating grants in 2022/23. Spending tied to students from outside the province and university research generated an estimated $2.3B in economic activity across NS, supporting about 21,000 full-time equivalent jobs. Public Education Is Our Lighthouse. #BeaconforNSPSE

The Canada Student Grant is currently $4200 but could be cut to $3000 for the next academic year. College and university students in Canada already struggle with the cost of tuition and day-to-day necessities. This cut would be devastating. Student support should be increasing, not decreasing.

The more things change, the more they stay the same... An informative panel discussion on politcal interference in PSE that ON, AB & NS are dealing with, featuring the presidents of CAFA, @ocufa.bsky.social and ANSUT. Thanks for hosting, SOFA.

Contract Academic Staff - they publish, mentor, innovate - all on precarious contracts. More than 80% of CAS surveyed consider their work vital to their university’s mission. Let’s treat it that way. #FairEmploymentWeek#ANSUTstandswithCAS@caut.bsky.social @dalfaculty.bsky.social@cupe3912.bsky.social

CUPE 3912@cupe3912.bsky.social

Tomorrow morning, October 24, 2025, we are having two rallies for our striking members: At MSVU,10-11 a.m., in front of the Seton Academic Centre, 166 Bedford Highway At, SMU 12-1 p.m., in front of the Burke Building, on Inglis Street

It’s #FairEmploymentWeek & @cupe3912.bsky.social are on strike seeking: fair employment. CAS research, build community & teach. Yet over half juggle multiple contracts to make ends meet. Imagine the potential if their work was valued with fair pay & stability. #MakeItFair#ANSUTstandswithCAS

MSVU CUPE 3912 strike will officially start with a gathering at noon on Wednesday, October 22, at the Seton Building entrance. At the initial meeting, we will organize and begin the picketing process. For those unable to attend in person, a summary of key updates will be sent by email.

Contract faculty bring the world into the classroom — with research expertise, fresh perspectives, and lived experience. Yet more than 60% lack job security beyond a single term. Fair work for them means stronger education for everyone. #FairEmploymentWeek #MakeItFair #ANSUTstandswithCAS

Every year, contract academic staff teach thousands of students, & bring passion, expertise, & innovation to university classrooms. Nearly one-third of faculty appointments in Nova Scotia are on short-term contracts—but their impact is lasting. #MakeItFair #ANSUTstandswithCAS

Happy to be there representing 1300+ of those unionized workers. #KeepDalStrong

DFA was supported today by orgs representing 200,000+ unionized workers. The @dalhousieu.bsky.social board isn't fighting 1000, they are fighting an army that stands to #KeepDalStrong. Thanks to all - see you next week! @ansut.bsky.social @caut.bsky.social @cupe3912.bsky.social @nsgeu.bsky.social

1300+ faculty from across NS stand in solidarity with you @dalfaculty.bsky.social, and thousands more from across Canada. We're watching this poor treatment of your faculty @dalhousieu.bsky.social

The @dalhousieu.bsky.social Board had no intention of reaching agreement. Aug 11, 3 hrs before conciliation was to end, the Board left without a word, and Dal Pres Kim Brooks posted a letter to the Dal community. Total disrespect for faculty. #KeepDalStrong @ansut.bsky.social @caut.bsky.social
