It's me, Jenna. In Scotland. Autumn is my favourite colour. Plant lover, cat enthusiast, grower of vegetables, cloud watcher, visitor of places, occasional crafter and art-er. (Admin Officer at @bsbibotany.bsky.social) Views are my own. She/her.

And a few from my other #WaxcapWatch surveys yesterday at Kirkoswald (new) Cemetery and Dunure Cemetery (which is the place I might choose if I was going to be buried somewhere - what a spot!). Orange peel fungi (if correct) and meadow coral fungi, both new for me.

New favourite churchyard. Are old graveyards the best place to spend a sunny day in October? Quite possibly. Kirkoswald Old Kirk - another with graves of people that inspired characters in Burns poems. And the font where Burns was baptised/christened. And a church ruin. And some lovely old trees.

Any editors out there, or botanical academics?!

Dr Stuart Desjardins, current Editor-in-Chief of #BritishandIrishBotany is looking to stand down at the end of 2026. The search is on to find a successor: could that be you? There will be lots of support on offer: bsbi.org/blog/2026/09... Details of the role & how to apply: bsbi.org/about/people...

Fancy sharing your botanical skills with others, and assimilating more people into the botanical world?! Resistance is futile! (We'd love you to come and be an Identiplant Tutor - which is an online plant ID course run by the BSBI!)

Keen to support the next generation of botanists? Identiplant, our online #WildFlowerID course, is the gateway for many beginners. We'd like to offer more student spaces we but need more tutors to support them: could you be one? Join us 7pm next Tues to find out www.tickettailor.com/events/botan...

A week late for the #seedheads #wildflowerhour challenge, but I spotted these awesome Agrimony spikes whilst doing my butterfly transect and they are too fab not to share. 😍 How have I not noticed these before?! 🫣
