Book bans are threatening to control our freedom to choose. So, how can we aid our local libraries and fight against proposed legislative changes that support these bans? Here are five ways you can directly assist your local library and enact change: buff.ly/Izgu8lF #library #libraries #read

140 years ago today, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated in NYC. A gift from France to commemorate the perseverance of American democracy, she has greeted people from all over the world seeking a better life in America. Today let us also lift our lamp to enlighten the truth!

Here's to continuing to lift and shine love everywhere we can.

We will never forget Matthew Shepard or James Byrd Jr. Their families turned grief into action, helping secure landmark federal hate crimes protections that President Obama signed into law on this day in 2009. Their legacies demand that we keep fighting hate.

You can find a script and contact info for this in Action 4 of our Sept. 11 #AoCChecklist americansofconscience.com/09-11-2026/#...

We ❤️ and are inspired by this minute sharing Eleanor Roosevelt's role in creating The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inspired that we HAVE such a declaration. Fitting that Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton should be the one sharing this.

Democracy Forward@democracyforward.org

BREAKING: A federal court expanded an order blocking the Trump-Vance admin’s unlawful effort to chop down trees and move forward with a plan to irreparably destroy East Potomac Park. We will keep fighting the president's attempts to destroy this national park for his high-end golf vanity project.

Safety increases with investments in trauma recovery and mobile crisis response. We're looking everywhere, not only at New Orleans. "Community safety requires more than responding after harm occurs. It requires both response and prevention." -Sarah Omojola and Ashley Crawford of Vera Louisiana

As violence has fallen dramatically in New Orleans, experts point to investments like trauma recovery and mobile crisis response. Our message to leaders considering the 2027 city budget: don’t cut the programs that have worked to keep New Orleans safe. thelensnola.org/2026/10/21/n...
