“The Rays will draw once they move to Tam-“ No they won’t. They never will. They’re in the World Series and it’s Miller Park on the gulf. Embarrassing showing for that city, MLB in Florida is a failed experiment.

I always thought that if I left here, it would be because of stupid political takes. Nope. It looks more and more like it will be stupid sports takes.

In the NFL, the question is "What is a catch?" And it's only asked on certain occasions. In college football, the question is "What the fuck just happened?" And it's asked on nearly every down.

I'm sorry, but is EVERY skeet I post from now on going to be liked and reskeeted by accountswith names like "I NEED YOUR HELP — MY CHILD IS RUNNING OUT OF TIME"? I mean, if I was going to make it obvious I was running a scam account, that's the kind of name I'd use.

"The Jaguar wasn't supposed to eat MY face!"

Republican nominee for Maine’s 2nd congressional district Paul LePage says he supports Trump and ICE but is outraged they are deporting one of his relatives: “He’s being deported because he came from a country that’s not to the liking of certain people in Washington.”

Sounds like it's a good thing I didn't spring for RedZone, at least in Week One. Honestly, most NFL games I don't have a great deal of interest in are mostly background noise. RedZone would be a waste and so would Sunday Ticket.

I'm pretty sure NFL Sunday Ticket is cheaper than it's ever been. I also feel sure you used to be able to pay it off over six months instead of eight. I'm gonna wait for the ridiculous discount around Thanksgiving like I always do.

If SMU-Florida State was a Big Ten game, no one would know how much time was left except for one guy in a closet using the stopwatch on his phone. And every so often, he'd add time or take some off just to fuck with everyone.

So I'm sitting here angry with the world because one obnoxious person thought he'd bring up politics at a family party. I went there for food and to spend some time chatting with people I don't get to see a lot. But one of my cousins decided she'd bring her boyfriend (more; this is gonna be long)

I walked by my mom and my Aunt Deb. My mom doesn't really get along with Deb. She'd rather not be at this thing, but she goes for my dad. And she gets along with Aunt Barb and Uncle Darrell. My mom asks me, "Where are you going?" And I shot back, "Mr. Asshole wants to talk about politics."

My mom called me before I made it home because she couldn't understand what I said. She brought food from the party for me and my nephew, who was glad that he decided not to go. Then she went back. I'm stewing in the living room right now. Fuck politics. Politics ruin things.

He's one of 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 people. The type that thinks they're being friendly when they're actually being loud and obnoxious. Bringing the focus on themselves because they "just wanna have a conversation." And he attempted to start one by asking, "So who here is a Republican and who's a Democrat?"

My thoughts immediately went to "people are going to argue and it's going to ruin things." I didn't want to be there. I didn't want to listen to people praise and bash other people. This "conversation" wasn't going to go well. So I walked out. My house is three houses north of my aunt's.

The one reason, if there's any, that I wish I had stayed in Bourbon County, Kansas, is to be able to be in the front row when I'm eating my popcorn. This county can't seem to conduct a clean election even under the easiest of circumstances. (More)

One of the posters called Bourbon County "the most corrupt county in Kansas, if not the country." I don't think this is corruption. I think it's just incompetence. The analogy that applies here is something I once saw posted on a forum about the county. (next post for that)

"Calling Bourbon County the Titanic is an insult to the Titanic. The only way you could compare it to the Titanic is if the ship's captain had been able to back up and ram the iceberg repeatedly." And that quote was posted at least 15 years ago. Keep ramming that iceberg, Bourbon County.

...by position (it wasn't a "top three get elected" election, it was "top person for three positions"). And then people handle the situation by going on the Book of Faces and arguing with each other about it. It's delicious. It's also pathetic. (Still more)

Two people in the same house got different ballots. They turned them in because they didn't realize it, then found the mistake after the compared who they voted for. The county, from what I've seen, told them it was *their* fault for not catching it. Not the county for giving them the wrong ones.

Let me be clear. It's a Republican stronghold and these are Republicans running the show. They're not cheating. They're just that incompetent. School board race? Wrong ballots. County Commission? Wrong ballots. It happens repeatedly. They're trying to recall the county clerk.

The county commission has new districts this year and more of them, going from three to five. People in the new District 5 got ballots for District 1. People in the Uniontown school board election in February got ballots where the candidates were listed as a single at-large group instead of...

Kansas is very weird politically right now. It has a Democrat as governor because it's not afraid to tell Republicans "Okay, it's time to reel it in a bit." It's had a lot of (two-term) Dem govs for a red state. Then, it keeps rejecting the constitutional amemdments the R's keep trying...

There were (IIRC) *five* candidates in the primary. The nominee (Masterson) won only 30 to 35 percent of the vote. So 65 of out 100 Kansas Republicans don't want him. He's got a job at Wichita State he consistently no-shows. I have this weird feeling Kansas *could*...

... end up voting to replace term-limited Democrat governor Laura Kelly with another Democrat. And that's never happened before in this state. Kansas is not a bright shade of purple, but it does have some purple in its DNA. Some pissed-off farmers might swing this thing. This will be interesting.

... to sneak by it in August elections. So it will *occasionaly* reign back the Republican party. At the same time, Kansas Republicans keep nominating people that a lot of them will say are the worst candidates for a given position. And they've done it again with their nominee for governor.

The WNBA couldn't be doing a better job of making me hate it if it were trying. Unless...maybe it 𝒊𝒔 trying? It's not just Sophie Cunningham. Of all the pro women's leagues I follow, it might have the worst level of play. Dunno if it's coaching or what, but I feel like I've seen better juco games.

And I'm not pulling the "juco games" thing out of nowhere. I saw some really good play when I covered jucos. Kansas had some dynamic teams. (The juco I covered wasn't one of them, unfortunately.)

Anytime Jason Whitlock is mentioned, I will gladly retell my story of the time I saw him picking through the scraps of Arrowhead Stadium's press-box buffet with HIS BARE HANDS!!!

Having learned what goes into the expected goal stat, seeing Argentina's at exactly zero this late in the game is a source of personal glee. If they could even get off a totally shitty shot, the xG might go up to 0.1.
