Recently I've taken part in a bunch of discord live text games and each has reminded me in in some way of my larp experiences. This is why, i think, so many hobbyists get a bit afraid when their hobby becomes more and more mainstream to a wider and wider audience, and then the business/finance degree people move in: ever increasing layers of abstraction kills everything good about it.

Don't ask me about how that affects my real job in the pensions industry, it'll just make both of us sad.

The thing it comes down is the @djwheat.bsky.social quote that changed my brain chemistry and ended me up casting Starcraft 2, the EVE Online Alliance Tournament and all the other nonsense i ended up doing: "All I want more than anything is to work with people who give a fuck as much as I do"
