Ace Combat games are never usually that deep for me, I think people like to overthink them and end up inventing a version of it that never existed. Regardless, AC8 is a war game that feels quite appropriate for the time period it is released in. How nationalism fuels militarism that fuels war.

I can't even think of a single time a game about war considers this to be an element. The enemies in war games are usually extremists with a shoddy excuse to do war things so you have an enemy to shoot at in a war game. The Sotoans here are pretty heavy-handed in terms of what drives them, though

So I quite like it for that fact. A contemporary war game that talks a little bit about the wars that we are facing now. How revolutionary! A strong motif with a pretty good execution. I can't even remember what AC7 was about. But I'll definitely remember AC8 for what it is now.

I beat Sweet Home and am a much richer person now than before. There's never going to be another story like this, about life and fate and how being granted those two things can be something you wish you were never granted. A story about fatalism that screams to my heart with so much clarity.

There's no comfort in this story, no real fantasy. No morals telling you what you should've done, that you should've given everything more grace. No forgiveness is expected from you. No reconciliation is asked from you. The best thing is that it's exactly what you need!

It'll stick with me. It pains me so much that it ends. There really isn't going to be anything else like this! You need to play it!

This game is a coming of age story for people born after the year 2000, and I think about how there was another coming of age game that came out this year that was set in the 90s and it was so lighthearted compared to this. Conclusion: being born after the year 2000 is absolute hell

I'm reading Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings and I feel like he's fucking with me. There's a lot of swordfighting techniques he mentions in this book and then he goes "I will not go into detail" or "I will teach you this in person." Then he dies. We'll never find out what that means

I know that professionally, I am an animator, but to be honest, I'd be interested to be a writer for other projects too. Just that nobody really think to approach me for that, for obvious reasons. I wonder if No Love can be a stepping stone for that?

I always wonder how do you even put longer form projects like that into a resume. Like I'd say my greatest strengths lie in the sum of all the parts in the things I work on, instead of just individual animations- but I can't tell people to watch a 30 minute episode of something I created.

I finished the main story for Strangers of Paradise. It seriously has the best use of a needle drop I've ever heard in all my life playing video games, lol. Using My Way is both so funny and so beautiful at the same time, and that's how I'd describe the game overall

No Love 2 is 30 minutes long. I just watched the first edit and it kinda blows the first one out of the water. I had to rewrite so much, but it has that perfect blend of crime and drama. I can't wait to finish this up!

No Love 2 is animation complete!! Can you believe it?! Now it's time for the finalization process- clean up environment art and polishing animation and rendering all of that. It would be amazing if we can all watch this before the year ends!!
