The lack of consumer RAM and video cards would trigger antitrust action from a functional government. They can put all their chips on AI if they want to but if that's the case they need to let go of their stranglehold on the market they're leaving.

I haven't been watching the Fire Emblem series at all. I knew people who liked the characters in some of the recent ones *really* liked them, but I didn't hear anything about the games themselves. So seeing the new one get a 10/10 and bylines like 'Nintendo's best game in years' is surprising.

I spent the whole weekend playing Wardogs. Dangerous video game. 2 hour rounds go by in a flash. Gameplay loop keeps you wanting to jump back in to try stuff and unlock more stuff that makes you want to try more stuff. Very dangerous.

The game has no class system but it has everything you would do in a game with a class system and then some. You might be a chopper pilot and a sniper with tools in your bag to build a little fort. If you're easily distracted you're rarely a minute away from doing a different job.

When you just want to grab an assault rifle and shoot some dudes the gun play feels fantastic. The game looks like Arma in a lot of ways but it's quite a bit more forgiving. Excellent sound design that rewards your attention.

I bet a Riot Genshin clone would make money but they're not gonna do that cause they think they're God's gift to gaming and that their different MMO will be different from all the other different MMOs Looking forward to the Josh Strife Hayes video breaking down its failure in three years

There's nothing wrong with Sony's description of their licensing model, this is what they are doing and have been doing. What they're saying is that it's obvious to you, the consumer, that this is how it works. Based on the comments, it's sure not!

wtf does this even mean, that's NOT how digital files work

Having to argue this thanks to new legislation in California shortly after pissing everyone off with their plan to stop supporting games on discs is just about as bad as PR can get. The funny thing is that this wouldn't actually change if they were still selling you plastic.

Sony is arguing that they should be able to use the phrasing "Buy <game>" and "Purchase <game>" when selling you a license that you can't transfer, that they can arbitrarily revoke, and that they have no legal obligation to support for any period of time.

None of this being in-house hardware is a good preview of the future of Xbox

These kids think they can just put GameNative on their phone and everything's gonna work. Back in my day we had to walk 7 miles uphill just to get Half Life to *start* in Linux, nevermind getting off the tram.

SD cards are too expensive so I - Bought an old Dell workstation and put an old hard drive in it - Plugged it into my network and installed Debian - Built a webdav container that launches as a system service - Bought a domain name on Cloudflare

- Installed Cloudflare tunneling on the server - Routed the domain name to a reverse proxy that connects to the webdav - Set up a local DNS to bypass the Cloudflare tunnel on LAN - Rooted my phone - Set up a script on my phone to mount the webdav to emulated storage on boot

Now I'm just walking around with my phone plugged into 16TB of storage at home. I don't have to connect to a VPN or anything. The tunnel is fast enough that I can load roms in Retroarch and play mp3s. At home my DNS server skips the tunnel and gives me LAN speeds.

I bought a cold rotisserie chicken from Walmart for $2, took off the breasts and put the rest in a stock pot with some garlic and onion trimmings with just enough water to cover and simmered that for three hours.

Those go in, I bring it up to a simmer again and cover about 15 minutes. Then I cut the chicken breast into cubes and add that to the pot, and some corn. I bring it up to a simmer one more time, stir in freeze dried chives, then I start tasting and adjust the seasoning with more Old Bay.

It's not very clear but it doesn't matter. I rinse out the stock pot and put it back on the stove with finely diced onion, celery, carrot, and smoky ham; along with some butter and canola oil, salt, and msg. I sweat that until the vegetables are slightly golden and there's a little fond.

Next I add some Old Bay and flour and stir that until the flour loses its raw smell, then the stock goes back in. I bring that up to a boil while agitating it constantly, then let it go back down to a simmer while I peel and dice some potatoes.

When the stock is done I put a metal colander into a bowl and remove the larger chicken pieces with tongs into that, then pour the rest of it through. I lift the colander out, tilting it to let as much stock through as possible, and move that to the sink leaving me with a bowl of stock.
