It seems that when students reach K-12, feelings and well being are no longer prioritized in favor of academics. Now, I would agree that there are great social workers and counselors in our schools but not enough money allotted for helping students with their feelings as they navigate each grade.

For instance, If a student 1 takes a toy from another student 2, student 2 May tell student 1, “I don’t like that.” Student 2 said it and student 1 heard it. Both are important in healthy mental development.

In EC, the student’s well being and feelings are just as important as large motor,fine motor, ABC’s, etc. EC encourages students to tell each other how whatever happened made them feel.

I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I worked in K-12 for 2 years. I then moved to Early Childhood Education, a degree I should have done but didn’t realize that until it would have taken an extra year of school. I worked in EC for 17 years.

So my favorite kind of video is Brits eating American food for the first time. Like grits,biscuits and gravy, brisket.
