I gave my workshop at #jfall2025 #jfall today. It was a success, a packed room and people working through my AI challenges for 2 hours. If you attended you might like the slides, they are available on my talks page: arjenwiersma.nl/talks/

arjenwiersma.nlArjen WiersmaTalks I occasionally speak at conferences and meetups. Below are some of my active talks that I am presenting. If you would like me to present at your conference or meetup, feel free to contact me.

Had an amazing time presenting at #Devoxx! The room was packed, with some people sitting on the stairs, if the favorites are anything to go by there were over 300 people in the room. The talk was rated 4.7 out of 5, which for me is amazing, thank you all so much!

Day 15 of #adventofcode was quite a puzzler. Rewrote my solution several times. I take solace in the fact that the fastest solvers needed 15 minutes, which means the problem was hard. My notes on my #Java solution are here: arjenwiersma.nl/posts/aoc-20...

#adventofcode is not disappointing this year! Had great fun on Day 9 and Day 10. My notes on doing the puzzles in #java are up: arjenwiersma.nl/posts/aoc-20... . For those curious, my Day 9 part 2 runs in less then 50ms :D. Now it is time to watch the videos from #emacsconf, thanks @sachachua.com !

Day 4 of #adventofcode was a lot of fun again. I quickly stepped into the "lets do some pathfinding" pitfall to only step back to basic array operations for part 2. My notes on the implementation in #Java are here: arjenwiersma.nl/posts/aoc-20...

When I professionally started programming it was in #Perl and I worked on a log parsing system. It had the most convoluted regular expressions around.... and in Day 3 of the #adventofcode I had a use for that knowledge, once again! Using regexes made this problem easy.

In day 2 of #adventofcode you might want to splice an array and then combine it again, in #Java you can use an IntStream to seamlessly remove a single element from an array. #tipoftheday
