This graph shows the velocity of money in the UK from 1963 to 2023. This is the average number of times money changes hands in a year, excluding financial institutions (the M4ex measure) such as stock traders. Looks like there was a fundamental change in 1979 that has never been reverted.

I don't know what Tesco thinks I'm trying to do with the Papaya.
