just so it doesn't get lost, and no-one gets me twisted. be conservative with your finances, moderate with consumption, liberal with your love, and progressive with personal education and growth. #letsgetpolitical

Acceptance and use of AI as a working tool without critique of outputs and critical examination of the harm being caused by the tech is the opposite of mitigating harm, which means you are failing a core tenet of design as a practice.

this is the most disgusting misuse of a political platform. no men are trying to play women's sports. that's a transphobic talking point. if he talks this way about trans people, he's got "feelings" about other minority groups as well. bigots have no place in politics. fuck this guy.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

there's a 100+ reasons a celeb's body may change, or appear to change. 0 of those are any of your business. And getting mad about it, especially in public, is like sincerely insane behavior.

“You can’t pardon people for crimes you’re personally connected to” seems like a pretty easy starting point.

We absolutely cannot let this stand. I don’t care what norms or frankly even laws have to be steamrolled. Mass pardoning cannot be allowed to stand no matter the cost.

the phenomenon where you watch a movie when it releases, and years later an actor from it becomes super famous for something else, and than you rewatch and go OH! wow! I didn't know Bill Paxton was in Terminator! THAT, but Oingo Boingo and Danny Elfman

pet peeve from miniature painting POV but also applies to all creative endeavors: No specific tool or product will "up your game". The only path to skill growth is through practicing practical application of theory in real world environments. i.e. painting, drawing, writing, singing, playing.

Re: PHP vulnerabilities. I’m seeing people say PHP is outdated code rot and AI is way better. Look we have a real lack of education going on and the one thing AI seems to be great at is compounding that crisis.

It seems that couples content (social media) is similar to open relationships in that one person is always way more into it than the other.

Look. If Tony Hawk (58) is still allowed to skate without a helmet or pads, then surely it’s OK for me (52) to continue building and designing software.

I understand and know why people are generating lifelike AI humans to do their bidding. AND it's also the grossest and weirdest fucking thing someone could do with the tech.

AI makes coding faster. Ok, then why are we still shipping poorly designed and inaccessible software. Why aren’t we trading the time savings for doing the things we’ve always said there wasn’t time for?

we don't have equal rights for all humans, we think dead children is a small price to pay, there is widespread hunger, homelessness, and poverty. And we're having actual discussions about giving rights to, paying for labor of, and making things for accessible for... guessing calculators??? BSFR.

if you've ever interacted with this album, you'll understand why the loss of this art form is such a tragedy. Progress isn't always the best choice, there is so much we've lost to time in the pursuit of not appearing outdated.

Yeah TOS for a reservation says "not approved for public road use" hmm... Also says no guarantee of delivery, and the final price is unknown. This is a scam, and yet people have already put orders in.

They can’t sell that. It’s not street legal anywhere. Your drivers license doesn’t cover flight, or wall traversal. It’s another lie from the world’s biggest con-man.

Forced AI usage is emblematic of our widespread apathetic acceptance of rape culture as a societal norm. Inability to opt-out is not consent.

the most frustrating part about seeking employment as a designer is there's no real data to optimize against. Even if feedback was honest, it wouldn't apply across companies. So you're left guessing and throwing darts blindfolded without any meaningful inputs. and this is normal and fine.

imagine a world where creative ideation wasn't focused on monetization. being able to dream without that dream needing to generate revenue to be a worthwhile use of time and energy.
