First, a tiny history lesson. In 1953, America overthrows democratically-elected Mossadegh after he threatens to nationalize the #AIOC, & replaces him with a tyrant in Reza Shah Pahlavi. #Pahlavi hands over their oil industry to Britain & America. It is known today as #BP

This move thoroughly impoverishes the country. Pahlavi spends the next couple decades disappearing 10s of thousands of his own people. Tensions rise until 1979, when Ayatollah Khomeini topples the regime and institutes the #IRGC, today’s Islamic Republic.

Game developers blaming players for expecting too much of them sound like the Joe Biden admin regarding his economy. “Everything’s good actually. If you think otherwise, that’s just bc you don’t understand how good things are. Stop b***ing.”

We’re tired of developers like @ubisoft.com spending 10 years on a game that cost $200M, spread out thin across 1,000 vectors, all for a game that is mediocre at best and wasted player’s time with disjointed bloat.

That bloat creates an illusion: it tricks you into thinking the $80 price tag is justified, bc you spent 200 hrs playing it. You forget that the runtime was spent endlessly farming items and checkpoints. Maybe 40 of those hrs are quality.

We don’t need to know how complicated things are. Welcome to Capitalism. You make games for us to enjoy. If we don’t enjoy it, we don’t play it. If we demand something from you, it’s not on us to capitulate; it’s on you to meet the demands. Figure it out, & stop treating us as if we’re stupid.

Again, the incredible violence of 10/7 was unacceptable. Targeting civilians is never justified. Full stop. However, their desperation is understandable, & incredible violence was inevitable in the context of the Abraham accords & the violence perpetuated in Sheikh Jarrah/Al Aqsa by Israel in 2021.

Consistently denigrating Hamas for any actions against Israel, bc Israel will inevitably lash out in a grossly unequal manner is positing that Palestinians should just accept their lot. That is the fairy tale.

So long as the status quo continues, the violence will also continue. He talks of “fairy tales,” but the fairy tale is believing that Palestinians will continue to endure the violence without resistance. It’s believing that they will roll over and allow Israel to continue taking their land & lives.

The TLDR of the @samseder.bsky.social & #EthanKlein debate: No, Israelis are not necessarily evil as a monolith. They do, however, largely ignore the actions of their govt, if not support it outright. And the govt of #Israel is conducting a #genocide.

Israelis do not want to be characterized as supporting a genocide, any more than racists want to be called out for their racism. But by characterizing the actions of their govt since 10/7 as “defending themselves,” they are in fact defending genocide.
