What consistently happens in the middle of the night is more important to most survivors' trauma recovery than what happens 55 minutes a week in a therapy office. A good therapist can be amazing. But recovery is about us being there for ourselves when no therapist is available.

Self talk is an especially important tool when we're hit w/ flashbacks. The middle & right hemisphere of our brain are melting down, & we need to activate that front & left hemisphere w/language to get neural "coolant" flowing. Don't panic. Start talking yourself through.
