I should probably actually fully introduce myself. I’m Ashton Snapp, I play games, am currently trying to make a game for the Playdate among other projects, et cetera, and I’m currently rocking Nobara Linux on my old gaming laptop.

Working on Hetric, a hexadecimal metric system Similarly to SI, Hetric has seven base dimensions and, therefore, seven base units: time in ticks (t), length in spans (sp), mass in gravs (gv), temperature in therms (th), current in unes (U), angle in zawia (zw), and luminous intensity in lee (Le).

Also, because Hetric is based on hexadecimal, we need a way in English (and probably other languages) to say hex numbers that aren’t just listing the digits (hexits?). 0-9 are obvious. A is ten, B is eleven, C is twelve, D is thirteen, E is fourteen, and F is fifteen.

10 (Decimal 16) is hex. 11 through 1F are hex-one through hex-fifteen. 20 is twenxy (twen-ksey - to differentiate it from 20 decimal :3). And you take that all the way to F0 which is fifteenxy :3 Still figuring out the hexadecimal hundreds and how to refer to them :3

OH. PREFIXES. I SHOULD PROBABLY POST THE PREFIXES I HAVE FIGURED OUT tria- (T) = 16^6 = 0x1000000 doda- (d) = 16^3 = 0x1000 byta- (b) = 16^2 = 0x100 hexa- (ha) = 16^1 = 0x10 hexi- (h) = 16^-1 = 0x0.1 octi- (o) = 16^-2 = 0x0.01 doci- (c) = 16^-3 = 0x0.001 teri- (r) = 16^-6 = 0x0.000001

so 1 Tsp = 1 triaspan = 16^6 × 0.5217960915 m ≈ 8,754,285.73505126 m ≈ 8.75428573505126 Mm 1 dt = 1 dodatick = 16^3 × 0.4672184640 s ≈ 1913.72682854 s ≈ 31.89545 min

The zawia, the base unit of angle, has the exact same definition as the radian but is treated as a base dimension instead of some dimensionless unit, meaning 1 zw = 1 rad by definition. The lee, the base unit of luminous intensity, is still being defined :3

Will post more Hetric nonsense as I figure out more of it :3 As a note: any units with seemingly nonsensical names are derived from me... basically chucking words into Google Translate, finding words I like, and truncating them if necessary so they're usable as units :3

The span, the base unit of length, is defined such that the speed of light in a vacuum, c, is 16^7 sp/t exactly, making 1 sp ≈ 0.5217960915 m. The grav, the base unit of mass, is defined such that the Planck constant h = 16^-25 gv⋅sp^2/t, making 1 gv ≈ 1.441364926 g.

The therm, the base unit of termperature, is defined such that the Boltzmann constant k = 16^-17 gv⋅sp^2 / t^2⋅th, making 1 th ≈ 2.266665264 K. The une, the base unit of electric current, is defined such that the elementary charge e = 16^-15 kf (1 kifi = U⋅t), making 1 U ≈ 0.3953576405 A.

The tick, the base unit of time, is defined in the same way as the second: the unperturbed ground-state hyperfine transition of Cs-133 is equal to 16^8 tak (tk) (where 1 tak is t^-1 or 1/t). This means that 1 t ≈ 0.4672184640 s.

my sister's friend's kids are screaming in the living room there is a thunderstorm going on i have work at 9 i am playing minecraft to try and have some peace rn

"Autism wasn't a thing until recently." Isaac Newton: "After inventing calculus just cuz and staring at the sun long enough to risk going blind, I plan on staying up for six straight days looking for secret code in the Book of Revelations. If anyone criticizes me I will go into hiding until I die."

My family never taught me life skills. They never made me practice driving, they never taught me how to cook, how to sweep, how to do anything I didn’t want to do. Because I’m their autistic son. They never made me try more than once, they babied me well into me trying college.

And now? I feel unprepared for the life I want to lead. They treated my sisters as children in terms of discipline. They treated me as a child in terms of ability.

IT IS TIME FOR JESUS. … okay to be fair it is always time for jesus but we are now approaching the SPECIAL JESUS TIME (afternoon bible study at church with the boys)

i am blaming this on daylight savings time because if we didn’t lose a FUCKING HOUR OF WORK TIME we would’ve been able to get all our pallets put up in time
