Metacheck is now hosted by Surf! This offers us the possibility to offer an all in one online solution. Before we advertise this more, we would love to trial the new tool with data managers and editors of Diamond open access journals who want to try out automated checks. Especially of data and code.

@alextrinidad.eurosky.social and other members of esc-enoc.github.io, are thinking of creating a new OA journal in #Criminology under the PCI model. At this stage we are reaching out to see if we could gather 50 colleagues that could commit to help as associate editors. Let us know if interested.

SocArXiv now has a limit of two papers per week. If authors submit more than that we assume they are LLM-generated and reject them all. Normal humans who need to upload a batch of papers, which sometimes happens, must make arrangements. Also today, ArXiv set a two papers per month limit.

Two major additions since the previous preprint version: 1οΈβ£ Instead of discussing two separate types of journeys (human and data), we propose generic "cyber journeys" and introduced the concept of a "journeying entity." Entities can be human (e.g. offenders, victims) or non-human (e.g. data, bots).

13. Hence our dismal conclusion: rather than finding that LLMs free us to do a better job of what we were doing before they came along, they shift scientific incentives (and the playing field of academic competition) in ways that compel us to do more and more, faster and faster, less and less well.

6οΈβ£ conducting open peer review 7οΈβ£ using open-source software 8οΈβ£ preregistering research 9οΈβ£ disclosing contribution roles As expected, we found generally positive attitudes. However, colleagues were more cautious about two specific areas: publishing preprints, and conducting open peer review.
In our new paper, we conducted a case study at our institute, the NSCR, to analyze our staff's attitudes toward open science. We surveyed our scientific team on 9 different practices: 1οΈβ£ publishing open access 2οΈβ£ publishing preprints 3οΈβ£ sharing open code 4οΈβ£ sharing open data 5οΈβ£ sharing open materials
