📢 Blog 5/10 of our #InternationalSafeAbortion Day series from Camille Kumar @asn.org.uk 'Abortion care, interrupted' centres on access to medication & what happens when people's bodily autonomy are curtailed #ReproductiveJustice #SafeAbortion #FeministLegalWork👇 dflw.ie/abortion-car...

We hear from 1 person every week who can't get an abortion where they live, AND is experiencing domestic abuse. If they can't get help to get to a clinic, they're trapped. Our helpline volunteers are often the only place people can turn for practical & emotional support to get care.

The quote is from Lina*, who found out she was pregnant after the German limit. She got an appt in the Netherlands, but her boyfriend emailed and cancelled it. Then he took her phone to stop her making a new one. All over Europe, abusers are stopping women from getting safe abortion care.

dflw.ieAbortion care, interrupted. - Doing Feminist Legal Work‘I had a medical abortion at 10 weeks, about a month ago. Two weeks after the treatment began, I called my doctor and told her the pregnancy test had 2 faint

Currently, if you don't have a passport, the ferry is your only route from Ireland into the UK to access an abortion. We've supported several people over the last few weeks who didn't have a passport and so had to travel by ferry.

Requiring a passport will create YET ANOTHER barrier to people travelling for care, and we're really worried it will push some people over the limit. If you've never had a passport, it will likely add at least 3 weeks onto the time it takes to get to a clinic.

Here are some examples of people who were blocked from accessing abortion care by the 3-day wait. It will be too late to help them, but it will help many more in their situation in future:

There are still huge gaps in abortion provision and barriers to access that must be addressed. Here are some examples of who WON’T be helped by this bill: people over 12 weeks, people who had an EMA and it failed, many cases of foetal anomaly

TOMORROW (17 June) there will be a vote in the Dáil on removing the 3-day wait from abortion law in Ireland This small change would make a big difference. Around 10% of the people who contact us from Ireland are within 3 days of the legal limit, i.e. pushed over the limit by the 3-day wait

The anti-choice lobby is well-organised and will definitely be lobbying against the change Our friends at Abortion Rights Campaign have a tool for contacting your TDs and we urge you to use it if you're in Ireland: Contact your TDs: www.abortionrightscampaign.ie/urgent-conta...

abortionrightscampaign.ieUrgent: Contact your TDsWe just learned that the Health (Abolition of Three Day Wait Rule) (Amendment) Bill 2026 will be introduced in the Dáil this Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Now is the time to contact your TDs and ask…

You are up to date.
