So Zen is a 9mo female. She was rehomed because she has a very high prey drive and did not do well with her previous owner's cats. She is quiet and amazingly well behaved. She walks well on leash, and enjoys meeting people and dogs. She enjoys squeaking toys, playing ball, and learning puzzle toys.

She is on the clingy side, following us around a lot, and is a top-notch snuggler as well! My husband brought her home on Sunday and she has been adjusting and settling in well. Yes, I left to tend my dying mother and my husband went out and got a puppy 🤣 We had actually applied a few weeks ago

when my world was a much different place, and since available rescues are kind of rare we didn't want to pass up the chance when we got chosen for her last week. I have lot to do with mom's estate and rehoming my FurSibs in the near future, but having this sweet soul with me now is a huge comfort ❤

Well, I have been gone. It has been a crazy 1.5 weeks. Basically my mom got sick, I went up to the bay area to help care for her, but she passed away Monday night. I have not even begun to process everything that happened and her loss. While I was gone, we got approved to adopt this angel. Meet Zen

Well we are back early from our trip. Hubby's hip was hurting pretty bad so we came home early. He went to the VA hospital last night and they think he has arthritis in his lower back. Other than that we enjoyed our couple of days there. More pics later, right now I need to wash EVERY thing 🤣

So now that the weather has cooled off a bit and the fence construction is complete, I've finally been able to focus on planting the fall veggies. Carrots, cucumbers, celery, lettuce, spinach, green onions, and peas in the raised beds. There's still green beans, eggplant, chard, and a cabbage

Pulled the tomatillos and moved their big pots to a more appropriate spot so this wood planter which was behind them would actually get sunlight. Moved some herbs (chives and parsley) here instead. Planted some radishes in the wood planter, hope to get a quick harvest then plant garlic after.

The former tomatillo pots are now on the other side of the yard. Three have broccoli seeds, one has a cutting from my neighbor's pomegranate tree, which will hopefully grow into my own pomegranate tree 🙂 I still need to rearrange this section a little and run drip line to the big pots.

They are done with my new fence and I AM SO PLEASED WITH IT 😁 They did a wonderful job. Neighbor is very happy too. Anyone in the San Diego area looking for fence work, I highly recommend Fred's Fencing!

Now that the weather has returned to normal (mid 80s), I am once again able to function. I got some work done in the garden - tore out the watermelon and tomato plants to get ready for fall planting. Also harvested a bunch of herbs to dehydrate overnight and cut up a watermelon.

I made some watermelon Popsicles, which made me a little sad because Phara absolutely LOVED watermelon Popsicles. She would sit next to me on the couch, hovering like a vulture, as I ate. I would eat most of it but save the last quarter or so to give to her. 🤎 🍉

You GUYS!! Sweet Tart has a YouTube channel ❤️❤️

Mama is ANNOYING. She rambled on about opossum breeding and anatomy, while I was trying to EAT! Here's the proof! youtube.com/shorts/OskMP... And I'm gonna be annoying now. Please watch my videos, click Like, and Subscribe to my channel so Mama can buy me yummy food and cool stuff to 'splore! 💖🍬💖

So today I took EVERYTHING down again, and attached some thinner extension boards to my original wood blocks, and then put the mounting brackets on there. This moved everything out a few inches providing sufficient clearance for the AC. Hopefully the shade will also help the AC run more

efficiently too. This project definitely falls into the category I refer to as "Nothing's Ever Easy" 🤣 I still want to try and secure the bottom of the shade so it doesn't blow around too much on windy days.

the temperature 15° cooler than a regular shade. Sounds like a worthy investment so I got that one. Of course the roll-up shade required a completely different mounting system than the simple hooks I hung the old shade from. I couldn't mount it directly to the side of the house as designed

because of the window AC (also I don't like drilling into the stucco), so I had to get creative. So I attached some wood blocks to the fascia boards and mounted the shade brackets to that. This worked, but the shade was still to close to the AC and I couldn't roll it down completely.

a gravitational incident and the shade was damaged pretty noticeably. So I set about finding a replacement. I couldn't find a simple cheap hanging shade like the previous one, but found a nice roll-up one that claimed to have "Heat Shield" (patent pending) technology which allegedly will keep

One of my favorite hot weather life hacks is to set up your air fryer/crockpot/instant pot etc outside on your patio (or balcony, or garage, or anywhere you can manage that is NOT inside your house) and do your cooking there.

Operation New Fence update: I went over to neighbor's house today and was able to finish off all the stupid tree stumps. I also cut back some of her trees that are growing near the fence, hopefully enough for the fence builders.

Then I came back and finished clearing space along my side of the fence. So I'm pretty much done and ready for whenever they can install the fence 🥳 I'll have to move a few things the day before they come but for now I am as done as I can be 🙂
