Following so many threats and harassment, I spent many years off of the touring trails. But I missed you all and I now feel ready to get back to it! I'll be in Western Canada this month, then in Europe in November and December, then in Eastern Canada in February. More details about that coming soon!

I've been making these comics and posting them online for more than 12 years, now. Lately, I've been having chronic insomnia - it's 6am where I am, and late, not early - largely due to the volume of harassment I've been getting. Sleeping a few hours here and there.

After I lost my car a few months ago, I had to start getting everywhere by bicycle. The closest store is a 1h ride from where I live. One way. It's healthy, I suppose. But let's say I don't go out much these days.

My heart has been doing weird things, and my temples are sagging from all the throbbing. But again, feeling these things, today, out loud, with you all, that's powerful. I shall tell stories about this struggle. This is what I know how to do. I shall witness the chaos and channel it. Sort it out.

Sometimes I wonder what took the place of all the passion and ambition that was driving the girl who started doodling these characters between classes to entertain her friends at school. It's this. It's making it. Stronger? I don't know. Changed, for sure. But together, and on purpose.

I know, it's 2026 on the internet, everyone gets haters, whatever. I should be used by now. But I just feel depleted. I spent much of the past few weeks debating if I should give up. I can't live my life with this constant level of stress, with my inbox full of threats.

Dear readers! I have decided to take my "Best of Assigned Male" comic collection on a little European & Canadian tour this fall/winter. I will be sharing stories, how art can empower us in the age of technofascism, and how to find strength and empowerment when billionaires wish to see us disappear.

If you are not, but you know of a local organisation who might be interested, you can tag them in the comments or let them know in person - I won't message anyone myself, I'm only going where I get invited, since I'm already doing so much of the organising by myself.

I'm opening slots in October, December and February. No European country or Canadian province is off limit. If you're from a country outside Europe and really want to organise something, let me know, maybe we can still find a way to make it happen! See you soon! Sophie

I don't have an agent, we're in pure DIY territory. If you have access to a stage, a lecture room, a library corner, and want to organise something, I'm coming. It's great if there's one, but I'm not asking for any appearance fee : I'm doing it for the love of the game.

In the past, I've been invited to speak by queer & trans orgs, cultural festivals, libraries, bookstores, school committees, unions, political parties, all sorts of groups and communities. If you are part of one such group and want to organise something, send me an email at sophievlabelle@gmail.com.

It has been several years since I decided to take a hiatus on speaking events, because of how many threats I was facing. My talks have been targeted by the far-right, windows have been broken, chairs have been thrown. A transphobic british MP even called me a civilisational threat in the media.

I thought that I would finally get some peace of mind if I stayed home a bit. But the truth is, it only made me feel more isolated. I have still been getting as much harassment online, only now, I never get to see & connect with the actual audience for who I do this work and go through all of this.

In the past, I've collaborated with various chapters of Amnesty International to create resources and give talks in different countries. Today, following their "apology" to JKR for shedding light on transphobic human rights violations in the UK, I publicly distanciate myself from that organization.
