Was on Threads a lot — and then my account got permanently banned for failing to meet Community Standards. Maybe it was because of my snarky post about tech boy billionaires schmoozing with Orange Goonbag Man 🍊 Oh well! BlueSky it is.

#dixons50years So many musical adventures started at Dixon Recycled Records. My brothers bought second hand Queen and Styx LPs from Dixons Dandenong back in the 80s, and that was my first major introduction to rock, as bombastic as those bands were.

More recently, I managed to clear all the Shostakovich CDs from Dixons Blackburn. I paid for them, of course, but in doing so I have denied many subsequent customers of Shosty. Snuck in today and came out with CDs of Alban Berg, Tom Waits and Edvard Grieg.

I bought a second hand CD of Genesis’ ‘A Trick of the Tail’ from Dandenong and it changed my life in the way that music has done for countless souls at an equally impressionable age.

The globular cluster 47 Tucanae in the constellation Tucana. 120 light years in diameter and consisting of thousands of stars, 47 Tuc is 14,500 light years away. September 12th 2026 #astrophotography

M8, the Lagoon Nebula in Sagittarius, with the star cluster NGC 6530 at right. 4,100 light years away. Two merged images, each made up of 25 exposures. September 12th 2026 #astrophotography

937. Queen: Hot Space. This is known by some as Queen’s “weird dance album” but like all their stuff it’s filled with all kinds of styles and approaches. ‘Cool Cat’, ‘Life Is Real’, ‘Staying Power’, etc etc etc. It’s fantastic! You should get into Queen, you might like them. #CDsAtoZ 💿

Describe your favourite movie as boringly as possible. I’ll start: Ape throws a bone in their air, and later on a spaceship goes to Jupiter and after that this astronaut turns into a baby or something.

935. Phil Collins: Hello, I Must Be Going! ‘Take A Look At Me Now’ 2 CD edition with live versions and demos. This is my favourite solo album from Phil and it sounds so good remastered. Live performances are fantastic. #CDsAtoZ 💿

932. Eagles: One of These Nights. 50th anniversary 4-disc set, including a full live performance from 1975 and a BluRay with the Atmos mix. This sounds so good! The original mix was pretty muddy; this one brings out the vocals so well. #CDsAtoZ 💿

931. Queen: II. 2026 re-issue with a fantastic remix. Queen at their prog rock heights, with a mix of hard rock and beautiful melodies. Oh yeah pretty good band, you should check them out. #CDsAtoZ 💿

Two galaxies in Leo: M65 (left), 42,000,000 light years away, and M66 (right), 31,000,000 light years away. Each measures at least 100,000 light years in diameter. Think of the billions of stars within each of these ancient galaxies. May 11th 2026 #astrophotography

Comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS), May 11th 2026, currently in Orion and 127,000,000 kilometres away. It is now outbound, and is expected to be eventually ejected from the solar system. Farewell then, lonely green traveller. #astrophotography

The arrow points to a green smudge which is Comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS), currently in Orion and 122,000 kilometres away. To the right is M42, the Orion Nebula. I couldn't make out the comet's tail but there's always tomorrow. Canon R6 camera, May 10th 2026 #astrophotography
