going full gaijin and visiting the local japanese gardens just to feel something

was having such a nice life and then boom 90 minute wait at the damn dmv and i made that appointment a month ago!!!

continued on to visit petrified forest, chiricahua, and saguaro. arizona is a very pretty state! i knew these destinations would be incredible but i was surprised at how pretty the drives between them were too (shoutout salt river canyon you’re beautiful and amazing, wish i got a picture oops)

sedona! spent the first half of my stay here fighting with the rain, but i think it made the rocks redder too…so wasn’t all bad lol. anyway yeehaw i love the southwest

my flight landed early, car rental got a free upgrade, the storm system that was gonna clobber my hike got pushed back into the evening, and i got the last parking spot at the trailhead. i believe this is what they refer to in the big leagues as a damn good day.

reconvened with the tall boys today

we were trapped in this rollercoaster line while it broke down 3x in a row yesterday so i might be coping here when i say this but it was actually kind of pretty watching this cotton candy sunset take form around this gnarled theme park jungle

been a minute since i have been on a trail at home. always delightful to pull up to the ocean coastline on a sunny day

rocky mountain national park ✨ this felt like visiting the motherland of the american great outdoors lol. such raw and rugged features. when i think of mountains this is what i think about. also lots and lots of wildlife!

muse! one of those band i spent so many of my formative years listening to and it was an incredible nostalgia bomb to finally see them live

olympic national park! i thought being familiar with the california and oregon coasts would have prepared me for this park so imagine my surprise when i see this whole ass majestic mountain range only a few miles from the ocean. so cool. also hoh rainforest!! it’s so…moody and raw and primordial…

back in vegas and i see they’re just putting whatever on the sphere

and finishing up this trip with zurich’s (techno/edm) street parade. the city puts this on for free every year where they set up a bunch of stages and run a parade of sound trucks around the lake and everyone parties in the streets. it’s kinda chaotic and hella crowded lol but definitely fun!

finally in zurich and all i can think about is that “after visiting the most expensive city in the world i could really see myself living here” meme lol. incredibly lovely city with such close access to beautiful nature but also i just paid $8 to take a 10 minute tram

mooore driving! weather kept us out of the mountains so we pivoted to check out lucerne instead. tbh i didn’t know much about the city but it impressed! lots of history, charm, and ~whimsy~ around every corner

exploring around the grindelwald valley~ the valley itself definitely had the most dramatic valley floor to mountain tops views. unreal

spent the day roadtripping through quaint countryside towns before putzing around high above the lauterbrunnen valley. it’s corny but as a tourist this felt like the quintessential swiss alpine experience and i am just…full of whimsy…and inner peace

got to be the matterhorn’s favorite fanboy today. i nearly tripped like 3 times on trail from staring at it too much lol. zermatt is also such an iconic mountain village and i’m thoroughly charmed by it

spent the day at oeschinensee and my word this is one of the most beautiful places on the planet

we are in switzerland! will be checking out lots of neat spots during this trip. we were in bern for our first day and wow what an extremely charming city

my past self would be so fucking scared if he learned he’ll grow up to be a guy that gets excited to go spend his day off visiting the botanical garden on a beautiful sunny day

jimmy eat world! also first time checking out the concord pavillion, it’s actually a really cool outdoor venue lol

there’s just…so much to appreciate from seeing the odyssey in imax 70mm. definitely make it happen if you can!
