Just had Bear Week at our house. I'm naming the fat one #5-0 Kahuna. #bearweek

Cute Miss Marley brought her favorite toy to Francis to play. Francis has a different interpretation of "play". #dogs

I don't think our houseguest labradoodle has ever seen a deer before. She's a barker but she just froze and stared. #dogs

Went for a wade. #flyfishing

Jr. Space and wife foiling with friends. I'm a bit envious.

Pacific tree frog - Pseudacris regilla jacuzzi. I've relocated it three times to the ground cover but it prefers the spa life. #frogs #spa

Autumn Francis in repose. #dogs

Francis doesn't care I burned the quesadilla. He's still going to to break my resolve to eat the whole thing. #dogs

Sixteen miles out in a 17 foot boat for tuna was a bit unnerving for a riverman (I like two shores). We came home with Chinook salmon. Bonus: humpback whales breaching and rolling. #salmon #whales #pacific

I best not close my eyes. #dogs #wolfdog

A happy worker. Francis's strategic location for cleanup duty. #dogs

Hazing bears around home keeps everyone safe. Francis bluff charges bears in the yard and they always retreat. He's smart enough to know he doesn't want to catch one. #bears #wildlife

Quick clip of a long-legged bobcat. Larger frame than most here, but needs to find more food. #wildlife #bobcat

I feel the weight of loss today.

Neighborhood bear heading home on garbage pickup night. It's covered with burs from Torilis arvensis - hedge parsley. I brush them out of the dog every day and would be happy to help it out. #wildlife #bears

My old fishing buddy Jack was willing to train, but never took to hornworm control. #dogs #rainbowbridge

Francis guarding the cooler. Bears won't get his treats, and I can't have a beer - until I cajole him off and reward his diligence. #dogs #river #summer

More river life when the mercury hits 95 degrees. River AC - a sliver of shade and sipping cold drinks in the water. #rafting #rivers #camping

How it went - not smooth but I got a "honey" from the gallery!

Scouting Dragon's Tooth Rapid. #whitewater

4.0 days in the wilderness rafting on the newly undamned Klamath River. Osprey, bald eagles, swimming bears, and an otter family for company. #rivers #wildlife #scenic

The young golden eagle has lost a fair amount of feathers and I was worried when I saw it lay down and stretch out. A parent is visiting and hopefully feeding and I didn't hear it calling today. I changed batteries in the camera and didn't set the date. #eagle #wildlife #trailcam

A young golden eagle has been calling for three days. There is a nest nearby so I just thought it was hungry. the camera shows it's been on the ground. I've contacted the local wildlife rescue - they had been out before when an eagle came to the front door. #eagle #raptor #wildlife #trailcamera

Space Jr. and his wife dropping waterfalls. Surprisingly, they both have broken teeth doing this. #kayaking #gravity

Madre's direwolf is in my spot. I'm getting a little worried. #dogs

Toxic, cannibalistic, indiscriminately predatory, and irresistibly cute. Sierra newt. #wildlife #amphibians #pets

Mt lion mom and two cubs. One of the cubs is staggering, weak or stunned. An hour later it walked by our front porch. #nature #wildlife #trailcam

Francis showing off his Dr. Suess paws. He's been to four different groomers unable to trim his nails. He apparently is an arm wrestling champion. #dogs #husky #wolfdog

Young mt. lion strolls by while I'm enjoying my morning coffee. I've never seen one before except often on my trail camera. I stuck my head out the door and gave it my best bear yell. It bolted without even looking back. Francis sniffs the air differently when lions are around. #wildlife #cats
