I gotta say, I got to see an early cut of Wildwood a year and a half ago when the vfx weren't done and a lot of it was still storyboards The final version was way more graphic than I remember it being. It's definitely not a kids movie

Is there a word for the beans you find in your pockets after accidentally leaving paper in them and putting them in the washing machine They're like good luck charms, I find them all the time

look, as a programmer, if the goblins that run around inside your computer demand you turn it off and back on again in order for something to work, you should just turn it off and back on again fighting with the goblins has always been a losing battle. we've lost so many good people already

There were a few years at work where any time somebody was sick I reacted in Slack with a hospital emoji. Slack even kept it in the recently used box It turns out it wasn't a hospital- it was a "love hotel". I never noticed because it's so tiny And none of my coworkers told me!

Grass didn't exist yet for most of eras of the dinosaurs, but grass hoppers did Grasshoppers were probably sitting around twiddling their thumbs bored for 100-200 million years waiting for some damn grass to evolve so they could hop around in it

Pterodactyls weren't as huge as movies make them look, they were about the size of a raven The broader family, pterosaurs, got a absolutely massive though Quetzalcoatlus was the size of an f-16

For a long time Oviraptor (meaning x "Egg thief") was believed to steal and eat the eggs of other dinosaurs because of a fossil that was found with it in a nest of eggs They later realized that the eggs likely belonged to it, and it was actually protecting them. But we still call it the egg thief

nobody make fun of me for saying some nerd shit but I never feel quite as alive as when code stuff breaks at work and everybody is panicking It's high-stakes programming like in a hacker scene in a movie. I am the only one who can save them. Olivia Rodrigo is providing dramatic background music.

This is actually a super common problem (I don't think it's a problem for hank's game) where programmers think that base64 is like encryption, and use it to "hide" passwords, even though anybody who knows about base64 can use a website to decode it in 30 seconds! 🌈The More You Know 🌈

Base64 is sort of a cipher (and people do use it to hide things sometimes, but it's SUPER easy to reverse.) that's primarily used to make text "safe" when used in places like a URL. It specifically avoids anything that could break a URL, like slashes or periods.

My brother in law asked "do you know what you'll do for Open Sauce next year?" I said no, I'm too busy working on my project for this year He said "you should do one where you let people waterboard you"

Idk if anybody else will find this wild but we went to an alpaca farm today and I learned that alpacas and llamas are in the camel family. After you learn that and then look at one, it's crazy how quickly your brain goes "oh shit that looks like a camel in a fur coat"

DO BEES TAKE PISSES? I SWEAR TO GOD I SAW A BEE FLYING AND SO MUCH LIQUID SPRAYED OUT LIKE A PISS THAT WAS A 10TH OF IT'S BODY WEIGHT, NOT A TINY BUG PISS IT HAPPENED TWICE SO I KNOW I'M NOT CRAZY
