Book 3, The Duchess and the Dwindling Stars, is undergoing some replotting, but I'm hoping to have it by year's end. It's definitely quite a ride headed for the series finale in Book 4.

So, hey! I'm Scott, I write books that are occasionally amusing, confusing, and somewhat thrilling. I have two books in my Her Violet Empire series so far, and I'm drafting the first couple chapters of Book 3. Check 'em out! authorscottaclark.com/books

Louisville was absolutely incredible. I beat my single-day sales record handily, but the interactions, as always, were the best part. My table mate and neighbors were fantastic, and it was great to see some old friends. I can't say enough good things about that festival.

It's Ace Week! As an otherwise cishet middle aged white guy, I struggle to feel part of the community, but Demi/Ace is part of my character sheet nonetheless. Many of my books' characters are Aro/Ace or just not specified, because that's how I see the world. It's actually kind of freeing.

Pro sports statistics have gotten absurd. Mark Flam has an average 52.6 passer rating in stadiums facing north-northeast when the moon is in the seventh house of Aquarius. How is that useful??

I'm in Louisville, KY tonight. Big festival tomorrow, and it's one of the best ones. I've been so lucky in my author journey to be at these events that are more about community building than just sales. Although, some sales would be welcome, of course.

There are plenty of excellent examples of peak 80s synth songs. Thomas Dolby, The Human League, The Thompson Twins are all top choices. "Dare to be Stupid" by Weird Al deserves to be in that conversation. It's a bloody masterclass.

Seriously, as a tech guy, this is about as bad as exploits get. #hugops to all the web hosts that have to emergency patch everything today.

Hello every non-techie webcomics person who gets scared to even touch their website. PLEASE contact your host and make sure they're ready to patch this.

I'm mid-rewrite and I found an enormous gap in my structure. Added probably 2k words and a whole new chapter to fill in the gap. It's a strange new world, this level of rewrite, but I think it's making me a better writer. Certainly a slower one.

Recently, I discovered that Surf Music was the original punk rock. No, not The Beach Boys, but surf before the record companies. Dick Dale, The Bel-Airs, Eddie and the Showmen. Mind went pop.

Wow, response to this has been... non-existent. Some days you can't give away a book.

Hey, would you like a free* paperback? I have some misprints that I'd like gone. Go to my store and use coupon code "imagination" to get a free, signed copy of "The Duchess and the Accidental Thief." * free + shipping, US-only maximumcatpress.com/product/the-...

Wrote a new scene tonight, which is a feat considering I rarely write on weeknights. I also did a database migration at work today, so I'm not sure how I'm still conscious right now... Maybe I'm not.

So, I have a handful of copies of my debut novel, The Duchess and the Accidental Thief, that are slightly misprinted. Every third page or so was double-pressed. If I were to give those away, would anyone be interested? Just pay the US shipping.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The bad behavior of corporations, like Sony and Google, is only because they think they're indispensable and you won't leave them. There are always alternatives.

Imagine you're out of work, almost no prospects, and someone or something is invading your nightmares. You show up to a job interview, and those dreams all come true. Welcome to the first day of The Duchess and the Accidental Thief. #booksky

There's someone out there who is waiting for a story just like yours. The moment that they read it, it'll become their new favorite.

it's been a while since we last did this, so please quote this post & say something encouraging to other writers!

Maybe I should try this "talking about my books" thing on occasion. I am rather proud of them, but it's like how many ways can you describe something that's been out for 2-3 years? I'll figure it out.

Dunno what was up with my brain today, but no writing got done. Not sure if it was ADHD, burnout, distraction, or what, but it's frustrating AF. It took 14 months to write the draft, I don't need it to take another 14 to fix.

I'm working on some revisions, and I wrote the phrase "her words eliding into a drowsy mumble." Not exactly Shakespeare, but I might actually be kind of good at this writing thing. #workinprogress #wip

Don't tell me fall starts tomorrow, or that it's scary season, or whatever. Our next daily high under 90°F is ten days from now. It's still very much summer. Put the pumpkin spice down and slowly back away.

Losing all these brilliant people in one week is hard for everyone. What makes me sad, though, is who are we replacing them with? In the bottom-line-driven entertainment world, everything is disposable. Who are the Dollys and Tims of 25 years from now?

Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people

When I heard Peter Cullen passed, the name sounded familiar, and I never watched the Transformers stuff. Then I saw he was Eeyore also, and okay, I liked the Pooh stuff, but it didn't hit. Then I saw he was also Monterey Jack from Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, and that shit hurt.

Oh. My. God. Could we not with this? One was bad enough, but now the universe is just trolling us. Clue is an all-time comfort film, and my 14-year-old adores it too. Iconic role after iconic role. I'll be in the corner, completely unable to can.

I boycott *$ every day because their coffee tastes like burnt ass, but I support *$ workers. If you do too, find a local coffee shop. I guarantee you'll get a better product.

🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:

The only trope in my books that I purposely write to is "found family." It's the cornerstone of everything I write and foundational to me personally. This is why "I like you" is a greater compliment than "I love you" in my family.

It seems like my entire feed is people promoting their books. That makes me feel inadequate, that I'm not doing it too, and hopeless, that I could never stand out, and also irritated, that all we authors do is hawk our wares. There has to be more to this, right?
