Tomorrow I turn 53. Today I am a year and a half older than the day I planned to be my death. Everyone believes I am “better”. I no longer cry every day. I make plans, and even keep them, now. I am, indeed, better. But am I “well”? I still haven’t fully grasped my reason to continue.

I tell myself all of the “reasons”, daily. “The pain won’t die with me, it will only transfer”, “Look into the eyes of your grandchild and know you are loved for who, not what you are”, “Everything is temporary”. It’s all accurate. So I hold on, waiting for change. I do “the work” in therapy.

Trying to find life again, after giving away your means for living in the process of planning your death… is it even truly possible? I know the answer from everyone is YES! I’m just waiting for my soul to agree, I suppose.

I’m watching #MadamSecretary for the first time. It feels like it represents the America we are supposed to have. Like, if everyone had watched this show over the past decade, we might be in a starkly different position than we are today. It breaks my heart 💜
