@poojag96.bsky.social work on the bioenergetics of spore germination is now published- Pooja had a really nice summary that I've put below but essentially we think the role of bioenergetics in spore germination has been completely overlooked! www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
💼JOB OFFER: There is a great opportunity for #PDRAs to join the #KathrynLilley #UniversityofCambridge lab to work on an ancient set of effector proteins IM30 family, that promote membrane integrity. See: www.cam.ac.uk/jobs/researc.... Apply by the 13th Feb

Beautiful systematic analysis of membrane thickness inside native cells. This is a great use of both the Chlamy Dataset (bsky.app/profile/cell...) and #MemBrain segmentations (bsky.app/profile/lore...). The open-source workflow is a very helpful resource for #TeamTomo. Thanks and congrats!! 🧪 🔬
Just published! We share an open-source workflow to measure membrane thickness from tomograms, including a tutorial with 3D visualizations. We analyze thickness variations across organelles and reflect on where to define a membrane boundary. @becklab.bsky.social #teamtomo rupress.org/jcb/article/...
‼️Research update - the last-resort 💊antibiotic daptomycin attacks🧫bacteria through two independent mechanisms & IM30 protein LiaH helps remodel membranes under stress. Great work by @henrikstrahl.bsky.social & @jbuttresssci.bsky.social @newcastleuni.bsky.social team #microsky #BBSRC #sLoLa ⬇️
Now properly published at @natcomms.nature.com with few additional experiments incl. demonstration of Daptomycin's ability to depolarise non-growing cells. See the original preprint-thread for a summary of our findings. www.nature.com/articles/s41... #microsky
