Just want to put this out there. Each day I will post 20 warnings against Tyranny by Timothy Snyder in this beautiful new graphic edition illustrated by Nora Krug. DAY ONE:

Make a monetary donation to you local food bank. With your dollar donations, they are able to buy in bulk and get the best foods to those in need. One, two, five, ten dollars can make a difference.

How does a wife, mother, community member and teacher of Iranian decent, who has been in this country legally for 47 years, get picked up in her garden as she is picking figs with children and detained by ICE? She is NOT a criminal. This country is Germany 1935.

I’m sick to death with this fascist wannabe king and his bootlicking, goose stepping minions. It’s a matter of time before we are seeing concentration camps (not like these detention centers are exactly that) filled by Americans fighting back. But we need to resist, shout it out we will not be taken

If it’s true that frump read and kept a copy of Mein Kampf on his bedside table, then the intro of Snyder’s book makes me feel as afraid as if I knew a serial killer was in my neighborhood. Now I understand the mind of a true megalomaniac.

Attached gives a bit of background for my optimism. One of the institutional challenges my Russian students faced in 1997? A Dean who traded their 6mo of work on an intl moot court competition, incl 8hrs travel/3hrs waiting for library access, for a few books from the Univ who bribed 2 of 3 judges.

You are up to date.
