First they came for the immigrants. Legal or illegal, it didn’t matter. Close enough for government work. I didn’t protest because I was born here. Then they came for the government workers. Fraud and waste they said. I did not protest because I wasn’t a gov’t worker committing fraud and waste.

Then they came for the non-binary and trans. I didn’t protest because I was straight and I didn’t get all that weird “gender is a social construct” stuff. Then they came for those receiving government medical benefits. I didn’t protest because I’d always been pretty healthy.
