If you've see your words screenshotted here, it probably means you brought up a very, very bad take on the Fairness Doctrine or other FCC regulation you didn't understand. Repost = good take. Screenshot = bad take Todd Legasse: Sault Ste. Marie, MI

This is MAGA's "alpha male"!

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

They're even more despicable when they're desperate, as they are now. Reckoning coming in 8 days.

Trump is melting down and I'm here for it. Only wish it were literal and he'd melt like the Wicked Witch of the West, leaving only a puddle of noxious orange goo that the HAZMAT team would have to come and eliminate.

I hate that people are always trying to legislate discourse, the fairness doctrine would not solve the issues we face today. What would help is a population that cared to educate themselves on issues, and not not be led by the nose based on a catchy Meme or idiotic influencers chasing clicks

This person does not want to learn, which I love to point out, as it proves just how philosophically flawed the Fairness Doctrine was. People can be told the truth and still want to hold on to their opinions regardless, even when those opinions can not be factually backed up.

Bet they all look alike too, eh Don?

Trump: "If you call somebody from that part of the world 'Mohammed,' you're about 65% sure to get it right. So if you have any problem with names, just call the guy Mohammed, you'll probably be right."

I mean, maybe....and both of those would be a far far far far far better choice for President than the clown we deal with now. But let's not forget that Presidents have to get their initiatives through Congress. So it's not that simple.

Well,We Know Trump's A Lying, Cheating, Criminal Grifter,Anyway..

You should read the history of the fairness doctrine. It was not what people imagine. It caused broadcasters to avoid important topics because of its requirements. Also it *could not* constitutionally apply to the internet per the ruling in Red Lion.

The McMahon family (well, Vince and Linda anyway; I don't know re: their kids) is an absolute disgrace.

Sean T. Collins@seantcollins.com

Linda McMahon, the United States Secretary of Education, worked diligently to ensure children in her and her husband's "employ" could continue to be molested at WWE. She did this for the same reason she got the Secretary of Education job: Republicans like it when children are sexually abused.

Some people are just dumb sons of bitches. Take this guy: he’s so dumb that he thinks everyone correcting him on being completely wrong has to be a bot. Some solid self-awareness right there. Get your shots in, as he’s a blocker, the poor fragile rose petal.

"We know we can't win by playing by the rules, and we're desperate."

Leaked audio: Michigan Republican Mike Rogers asking for officers at polling stations to intimidate voters "We called the RNC early and said hey... Let's put police officers, retired or off-duty police officers as our poll watchers in Detroit because go ahead, try to intimidate them. Please."

Exactly 10 years ago today: Hillary Clinton said Vladimir Putin would rather have "a puppet as president of the United States.” She absolutely nailed it. 🔨

I think Mr. Matthews is lowballing that estimate.

Patrick Matthews@matthewsp.bsky.social

If you think that bringing back the Fairness Doctrine would help the current information environment, then there is at least a 98% chance you don’t know what the Fairness Doctrine actually did.

Those opinions are: 1) A fairness doctrine for social media would need a Constitutional amendment. 2) Trying to get around that by expanding the court and packing it with liberal justices won't work because liberals tend to be even better at maintaining the narrow exceptions than conservatives are

While I admit I enjoy correcting people about Reagan here (sometimes), I'm starting to realize that the public myths about him are significant and getting worse the farther we get from the actual years of his presidency. Plenty of stuff to zing him for, but this is reaching hallucinatory levels.

She's earned the disrespect.

A protester yelling that data centers are "poisoning our waters!" interrupts the Collins-Jackson debate, prompting Collins to say "this is obviously one of Troy's supporters" "Oh, shut up," Jackson replies

OK, so when Trump goes, the idiots who say "you shouldn't celebrate when someone dies" can have no complaints when there are massive global celebrations going on.

To "revel in the death of those who truly deserve it...is normal, good, and aligned with our natural and national order," Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey wrote on X.

Oh look. A Nazi rally!

Trump: "The Republican Party, we believe that Somalia bandits, third-world gangs, and jihadist sympathizers do not belong in Ohio, they do not belong in America. We got to get them the hell out of here." More "De-port! De-port!" chants from the crowd.

Just imagine for a second the *additional level of damage* the Trump administration could do to the #media and #freespeech if they had something like the Fairness Doctrine at their disposal.

Elon Musk is immensely unpopular. Even more so than you, JD, and that's saying something.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance on H-1B recipients: "It's one thing if you were to bring in a person like Elon Musk. I think 99% of American citizens look at somebody like Elon Musk and say, 'if that person wants to come in and build something great in the US, we support that.' But if you're bringing in an accountant... "

That's not what he did. Look, I hate this asshole as well, and want to see him go down for the many, many crimes I believe he's committed. But calling his routine shitty comments "treason" would be fine if people didn't then assume it was the legal and not colloquial definition.

M Meerkat@kackbro.bsky.social

Agreed.......

People bashing him for another stupid, crass, disgusting remark is absolutely fine. But people looking to get the legal knives out for a statement that is fully protected by the 1st Amendment for any American to make is not, so let's focus on the actual legal transgressions that he's made.

They better not try to execute her a 2nd time. I mean, can they? I really don't know.
