Do I have an uncanny knack for remembering my people's (unfulfilled) dreams, or what? Somehow, I always still secretly wish I could help them bring those dreams (if they still have them) to life

Who knows what my friendships and relationships would look like if I wasn't too stressed by confrontations, and I let my "righteous" anger play out instead of just quietly removing myself from scenarios where I feel belittled, disrespected, mocked, unappreciated or not given same grace I gave them?

Yet they say confrontations might be good for friendships and relationships (maybe the ones where everyone is acting in good faith)πŸ₯² Anyways, we are all works-in-progress. Or something like that.

I've been thinking about the concept of self-sufficiency both on a household level and on a countrywide scale in the face of natural disasters and increasing nationalist fervour. Who will survive and who won't make it?

Another good case of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat! Good to see Lula win. I only hope post-election violence doesn't erupt from the sore losers who have almost always have a taste for it.

Is this the end of the BBC 4's This Cultural Life podcast? There've been no new episodes since the .php vulnerability issue. Or maybe that was a coincidence? I'd be devastated if that's the case. 😒πŸ₯²πŸ˜“

BREAKING: Brazilian President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva won an unprecedented fourth term, the country’s electoral court said, defeating challenger FlΓ‘vio Bolsonaro, who sought to revive his father’s far-right movement.

I found a quote I wrote in an old journal from 2019 that still resonates, maybe even more now: "I don't think extending grace to myself and others should result in my being viewed as any less talented, intellectual, and critically rigorous. We could all use more kindness" β€”Alison C. Rollins

Imagine playing reggae and lovers rock records on vinyl on a Sunday at a house with a garden located in the British countryside, your children running around and your lover in your arms... I like that image a lot. Daydreaming is free. 😁🫣

This daydream was inspired by hearing Jean Adebambo's "Paradise" on David Rodigan's show on BBC 1Xtra. God rest that lady's soul.

"I Love You" - Snoh Aalegra 🎢🎼🎡 The opening sounds like the ghost of Tony Allen came to deliver some serious Afrobeat drum grooves, and that made my ears perk up! Snoh channels Janet Jackson in her presence and mannerisms, and Sade in her vocal styling and musicality. What else can you ask for?

It feels so eerie to hear the word "coup" being mentioned in relation to American politics/government. The land of the free? The home of the brave? The "bastion" of democracy? That same America?

And that's how I managed to stab myself in the heel with a pen on the floor at 3AM when I woke up to use the restroom. (left foot stepped on the pen, and mistakenly drove the tip into the right foot) Next time, I will learn not to leave pens on the floor. 😭

I probably need to make my first Bluesky starter pack, most likely about independent, dependable and excellent African media publishing companies. πŸ€”

I need a visit to my dealer. My used books dealer. Lol. I need a little balm for all the things that ail my mind.

I guess it can mean high-quality but also masterfully counterfeited. Probably that's what you get when the "factory of the world" accounts for both quality goods and brands, as well as being the main global hub for most counterfeit products around the world. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ Two things can be right at once, no?

Chinese brands are breaking through in practically every category and proving β€œMade in China” can mean high-quality. Read more: bloom.bg/4sgJxsW πŸ“·οΈ: Dynafish US

That small dollop of sadness that smears your mind when you see an idea you've had for a while executed by someone else... Ah well. Life goes on.

Seems the BBC website is affected by this whole PHP vulnerabilities matter. I just wanted to download one of the podcasts I have been enjoying recently. πŸ₯²

'An earlier security audit found that the Louvre had been protecting its surveillance and security systems with the password β€œLOUVRE.”' I cracked up a little when I read this, like 'What???!!'

And how would you feel if an/your AI agent was begging you for some loose change? I think I saw a published story about these pandhandling AI agents somewhere not too long ago. Let me try find it and link to this post.

Nigeria has confirmed its first case of ebola. I hope they manage this situation well, for the sake of everybody. I now await new travel restrictions for our green passports. 😒

I miss having a shortwave radio. I really should find a way to acquire one again, probably used, probably made by Sony or Grundig, but will settle for some latest nifty Chinese joints.

This is interesting. πŸ€”

I will never not be amazed at the tech startup/business valuation game. That's some hocus pocus shenanigans, but hey, what do I know about finance and money?

Shooting for a secession referendum when your country is being bullied by its closest neighbour and ally is a dud move.

People are training robots that can take your jobs? Hmmm. Maybe their reasoning is that the whole project will fail, and they would have made some cool cash all the same. I guess time will tell.

Maybe the world has something to be "grateful" for in that the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ at the moment is not led by someone who is both evil and competent. That would be a very deadly combination.

Of course I won't be the first person to notice the similarity between the Stone Island brand logo, the Globe Trotter luggage brand logo, and the emblem of NATO.

I am also not fucking around with any pre-election polls or predictions about the midterms in the US. Only the actual election results matter at this point. No need to gorge on false cotton-candy hope.

I won't be surprised if the Brazilian run-off elections descend into violence, from the way things look from here. I want to be wrong so badly. 😒

Someone just "jokingly" asked if there are any contenders for the next FIFA Peace Prize. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Has anybody done any analysis that links the geopolitical upheavals that have disrupted French-African connections in the Sahel region to the current protests going on in France at the moment? I sense that there has to be some connection.

I know one platform, or media company can't cover all of the important news all of the time, but that doesn't stop me from being shocked when I move from one platform/media company to find that there's been a newsworthy occurrence they haven't mentioned at all, like a flooding or an earthquake!
