if you want to be more independent of bluesky, the easiest way is to move where your account is stored. pds moover makes finding a new home for your account simple, and takes advantage of bluesky's locked-open tech to ensure a single entity take away your relationships or can't delete your posts.

A month in the works, I am happy to announce the newest version of PDS MOOver! - OAUTH!!!! - A brand new cow thanks to @goose.art! - A dedicated rotation key tool - A directory to find your next PDS, as well as typeahead for PDSs. - 🧙based forms for migrations and recoveries - QOL everywhere

Well. The payola scheme is working @schlage.town

For @motherjones.com, I looked into how Meta could be using disabled people to promote its Meta glasses to the masses. As one expert told me, “companies have used accessibility...as a Trojan horse for a tool that poses significant privacy and security threats.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Just listened to your interview with @steveinskeep.bsky.social on NPR One. How perfectly public media to have the launch announcement double as an interview/preview. What an exciting announcement and great partnership. The public needs this kind of reporting! www.npr.org/2026/09/16/n...

Incredible opportunity to help determine how the future of the open social web works.

@blackskyweb.xyz is building an interconnected suite of products reshaping how people connect, participate, organize, and transact online. We’re looking for a Head of Design to lead and shape how our products and brands look, feel, and work. please circulate widely. blackskyweb.xyz/about/jobs/h...

The whole :thread: is a master class in how a best-in-class subject matter expert (in this case ad tech) can thoughtfully skeet-thread with nuance and respect to critics. Also deeply interesting!

Aram Zucker-Scharff@chronotope.aramzs.xyz

I raise this issue because ad tech is extremely complicated, an intentionally obscured market where bad actors flourish and fair players suffer. It is an accelerating problem that has a deep responsibility in the failure of democracy worldwide. You can learn more about that here: checkmyads.org

Yes. And … Pioneering the open social web means being open and sending people out with link referrals that create friction towards being the ‘bigger’ platform: pressgazette.co.uk/platforms/bl...

I know we care about numbers, and it's not that they're not worth looking at, but maybe Bluesky not having explosive growth is good for the Atmosphere that's building beyond it, and patience is more important than the first attempt gathering every community possible in its early years. Long game.

This!

That suggests a business model for third-party devs: don’t build another intermediary whose business depends on capturing the publisher’s audience. I'm actively seeking book bloggers, indie booksellers, librarians, educators interested in contributing to my HOW READERS DISCOVER BOOKS blog. Info: books.leaflet.pub/about One of my goals: to help boost the book boosters, help people find new ways to discover books, and (of course) boost books.

books.leaflet.pubAbout - How Readers Find BooksGoal of this blog: (1) help readers find new ways to discover books, (2) help boost the book boosters, (3) boost books, (4) encourage more book people to join the ATmosphere.

Great read from @torrent-empress.bsky.social, love that it's addressed to both creator & developer communities, def so much opportunity to better work together and get serious Love that fuck around beginner energy. That try new shit experimental energy. That make it happen collaborative energy!

I’ll add a corollary to the hopeful note he ends on. What the PIT crews are doing for civic participation and governance, the ATProto community can (and is!) doing for information ecosystems. And, frankly, civic participation.

I like Justin's framing of the *poly-platform reality* for creators — imo the most exciting thing w/ atproto is the ecosystem blossoming; already powerful synergy w/ e.g. Bluesky + Leaflet + @standard.site Long term we can bring a greater diversity of platforms onto a shared social substrate

VERY EXCITING News. If you're active on Bluesky and you're creating journalism (or any content!) of value, you can now create a more friction-less paid membership program RIGHT HERE FROM FEED, through leaflet. @schlage.town explains more in his post below.

This is one of the reasons I'm so inspired by protocol-based approaches. As a bunch of folks from @pfrazee.com to @debbieohi.com to @tessa.germnetwork.com to @anna.germnetwork.com have blogged this week. bsky.app/profile/bank...

This coming paid membership product is a big step in turning theory to practice. A more friction-less, single-sign-on experience between Bluesky Feed and Leaflet blogs/newsletter is coming. Stoked to see what creator-led communities emerge in these ATMospheric conditions.

I've spent years studying creator economy, after two decades inside legacy newsrooms. The reality for creator economy is that no platform can solve all problems. Creators HAVE to exist in a 'poly platform' reality, as I wrote last summerL newsletter.projectc.biz/p/early-retu...

Get to know the Atmosphere and how this whole decentralization process can work. You own your network, you control who sees you, what you see. Not Elon, not Zuck, not Oracle. Just you and the community you want to build.

Attention is fleeting. Trust, when nurtured, is durable. I like living in this era of the timeline. So much more to look forward to, as well.
