Someday people are gonna actually read my books and play my games and whatnot and will realize that they're actually super good and all y'all who slept on me and thought "maybe later" are gonna feel mighty foolish. I'm gonna be like if Averill Lavigne's Sk8r Boi was a girl and was way nerdier

people love to talk about "make queer art!" "make indie art!" "make weird art!" but nobody wants to talk about how that requires people to go out of their way to seek it out and engage with it and support it. Without deliberate effort, queer, weird, indie art dies in silence!

This means you are going to have to consume art that is NOT AAA-level. Play a dinky indie game on Itch. Read a book you've never heard of. Find a funky garage band on Bandcamp. Watch an amateur film on YouTube. Find OC art from small artists. Then SHARE and GIVE FEEDBACK! Most of all, KEEP DOING IT!

Instant ramen is the best food ever if you just throw out the seasoning packet & add a boiled egg & a bunch of fresh veggies & use this overcomplicated broth recipe that I spent three years developing & authentic slow-cooked chashu. so basically you never need to eat another food ever.

And you don't even have to show up to eat it when I cook. I'll just make soup for nobody and see how that goes and then never cook again after three tepid meals.... Also soba eaters are SO pushy when they talk about their noodles like wtf. I'm an instant ramen eater for LIFE.

It's honestly a total red flag when a chef makes an entire dish for you from scratch & then expects you to SHOW UP and eat it, even when you said you were going to & wanted to. It's totally invalidating your freedom and creativity to conform to someone ELSE's idea of food.

So because my last chef was TOXIC & PROBLEMATIC with things like mealtimes & manners, I'm going to make my OWN instant ramen & it's going to be EXACTLY like that famous YouTube show even though I'm not a trained chef. Also I'm putting pears in my ramen so you're just gonna have to get used to it.

I just don't like how COMPLICATED other foods are, you know? If I cook another dish I might have to do MATH and try something new. At my table, as long as we have instant noodles everyone just wins automatically. I just want a food that's SIMPLE with only twenty-to-fifty additions and tweaks to it.

Lately I'm really into instant ramen but it's broken down into its base components and reconstituted as ice cream. Also the ramen company said they're gonna fire all their employees and turn all the noodles into NFTs or something but it's okay because instant ramen is the best food ever made.

Modern Pokemon games seem fairly competent and defensible right up until the moment you play a Digimon or SMT (incl. Persona) game and you realize that the most popular media franchise in the world has largely been held aloft by sheer brand loyalty for over a decade.

Today I finished Digimon Story Time Stranger. The story was a bit of a mess, especially at the beginning, but overall I think it was quite good. Like most Digimon games, it's not going to change your mind about Digimon if you're not already a fan, but for a Digimon nerd like me, I quite enjoyed it.

This is a nice sentiment and all, and one I agree with, in theory. The issue is that, while people love to talk about how cool indie sites and indie forums and indie whatever are... people won't actually use them. I've run them for years and people will only engage with what's right in front of them

that's why social media is so popular. People have been conditioned to have brands and creators and artists etc. come to THEM and compete for their attention. people don't WANT to go out and scroll through an unfamiliar site, or, gods forbid, create an Account (ew). They want instant gratification.

I've been working really hard to promote my books but it's REALLY hard to get people to read them. Please consider supporting a queer indie author by checking out my books and giving them a read! 💜

I am so proud and excited to announce that my second novel, #CrowOfTheArdentDawn is out now! Queer Anti-Capitalist Dieselpunk Romantasy, and a direct sequel to 2022's #OwlOfThePaleMoon Available direct from BAPHOMET MEDIA & wherever fine books are sold online. baph.xyz/post/77

what's true for so many of my peers is that it would help us MORE if more people shared, wrote comments and reviews, recommended our books (self-promo is very frowned upon), asked for us at conventions or other events -- time is money too, spoons are limited, but we can all aim to do more of this.

Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)
