Barred’s Evil Twin with a dispatch from Hamilton’s Bar and Grill which is hosting Brewers watch parties this week. $2 PBR & High Life. Says place is full not crazy so with folks in their 20s-60

Duke’s Grocery in Dupont with 39 cent beers and Absolut Half and Half ice tea/vodka canned cocktails earlier today 3-5p and later 10p-midnight to celebrate the high heel race

Bullying works - I’m now intentionally trying to avoid posting pics or screenshots of AI IG ads/posters that bars use to advertise because of the deserved yet annoying to me complaints

DC United with a rare kid friendly kickoff time for its last game of the season and $20 tickets. Will be my second time ever going to Audi Field (first since 2018)

Barkeepers Bar & Grill in the former Duffy’s Irish Pub at 19th/C SE feels a lot like Duffy’s with familiar staff - they filled up the walls with more booze on shelves. Good Guinness HH features $4 beers, $5 rail shots, $6 wine, $8 cocktails, 10% off food daily 4-6p.

Warner Theater is such a great transit-accessible venue. Same block as Metro Center - show ended at 11:30p last night and still got home on Metro to relieve babysitter with time to spare before her midnight curfew. D10, D5X, D34 busses right there too

Went to Atsuko Okatsuka comedy show at Warner Theatre yesterday - haven’t even seen a clip of her before but she’s hilarious. Got a drink at the chain Mastro’s Steakhouse nearby. Live music nightly (lounge singer type act).

Blows my mind that content creators/influencers actually cold call/DM businesses unsolicited to get free food or even get paid for a “collaboration”

If you dont know its on the ballot and read it for the first time, its a pretty rough question for foie gras. “Should we ban force feeding birds?” Probably gets a yes vote because that sounds pretty bad. Of course the reason it’s easy to make sound bad is because it actually is.

Polled out the I-86 foie gras ban question on Twitter and Threads. I would expect the initiative to pass though folks on those sites are strongly (on Twitter) and slightly (on Threads) opposed. I would bet most ppl don’t even know it’s on the ballot

The great Service Bar marking a decade in business today with $10 cocktails featuring some of their classics over the years (I think the special is just today but not clear). Folks lament closures but there have been a lot of spots still around marking longevity this year

Apparently this has been reported before but first I’ve heard of it - La Tejana is planning a second location to open within a year, per Tom Sietsema. My uneducated guess is somewhere Union Market-ish

PoPville with another great lil preview of a new new bar - this time The Last Straw coming to Bar Pilar space on 14th from Exile’s/Easy Tiger folks. Neighborhood sports bar vibes like the other two. Opening in next 2 wks

1st time checking out Cordelia Fishbar in Union Market area from Clyde’s folks. Very cool curved bar and excellent HH every day it’s open (closed Mon) 9p-close (4-6p Tue-Fri). #Will have to come back to get half off oysters/shellfish tower

Saw a small protest yesterday at the Pennsylvania Ave SE median by Eastern Market - one of the homemade signs said “keep e-bikes off of our sidewalks”

Had a fun time in (h)ours in the basement of Manifest 002 (near 3rd and N NE) with good (pricey at $20+) cocktails and great oysters Rockefeller, fried shrimp, and Brussels sprouts that Chef Rock Harper sent out for us. Unique all peach walled/ceiling space

Fall Family Fest 2026 with the Southwest DC Community Center til 3p at the very chill Waterfront Park just south of The Wharf development. Racing Presidents, face painting etc

Had a great time for our first and last time at the Guinness OpenGate Brewery in Baltimore County this afternoon in couple hours before school pickup. $16 roundtrip MARC and $16 roundtrip Lyft from the Halethorpe station

Apparently Madam’s Organ breaking the news that two of their customers this week - Stephen A. Smith and Bill Maher - had dinner at the White House with the prez

Need confirmation on a few things as I’m updating my cheap beer in DC guide. If you’ve been to any of these places in last couple months: Raven and Showtime - $4 Natty Boh?? Nice and Easy - $4 Natty Light?? Dan’s Cafe - cheapest domestics $3.75? DC9 - Natty Boh $2.50 HH??

Butler’s Orchard for their wildly popular Pumpkin Festival. First time here since 2023 (usually goto the closer more spread out Montpelier Farms but not open today)

Also invited to the 7th Annual Premier Drams whisk(e)y tasting event at Jack Rose (with extension into CARLA this year). Dropped by for a few tastes

Ended a busy day joining Mrs Barred at The Anthem for a very fun Jessie Ware show. Sat in the Super Excellent balcony seats perfect for olds like me - not that pricey when you save fees buying direct from box office a month ago
