Does Trump's Bible contain Revelation 13 vs 3-8? "And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months." How much longer still to run? www.bible.com/bible/1/REV....
THIS IS NONSENSE! Ridiculous advert which I didn't open, suggests LPR somehow avoids the oesophagus! 48% of women, 22% of men with Barrett's don't get heartburn (2023 survey of 200). LPR is described here: sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Unusual symptoms (that could be reflux): That pain behind the eyes can be sinusitis from aspirated refluxate. You don't need expensive sinus rinses. Snorting clean drinking water can help. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Unusual symptoms. Ringing, drumming or buzzing sounds in your ear? Tinnitus can be caused by reflux. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Unusual symptoms. Dry and gritty eyes can be a symptom of extra-oesophageal reflux. "Studies showed a correlation between GERD/LPR and ocular discomfort," sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Unusual symptoms. Smell burnt toast but it's only your imagination? Phantosmia can be a symptom of extra-oesophageal reflux. sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 10. Barrett's isn't that rare. According to research, probably 1 person in every 20 actually has it, though only 1 in 20 of them know. drive.google.com/file/d/1-1fF...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 9. PPIs do not cause osteoporosis. During child-bearing years, oestrogen protects women's bones and protects against acid refux. As they lose oestrogen, they may start PPIs for acid reflux. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 7. It used to be thought PPI induced hypochlorhydria meant malabsorption of essential minerals but they are absorbed in the duodenum, not the stomach. PPIs don't cause anaemia. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 6. If you have Barrett's, you still need PPIs once oesophagitis has healed. They can reduce cancer risk by inducing apoptosis in mutating cells. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 5. Anti-reflux surgery does not reduce risk of cancer. Barrett's cells remain and can still mutate. sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 4. Barrett's doesn't change into cancer over time. Its cells can mutate like any other cell but PPIs help reduce the risk. sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 3. Barrett's Oesophagus is not a disease. There is nothing to cure. It is the permanent addition of acid resistant cells to the lower oesophagus to protect against erosion. sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (even some doctors)! 2. Acid suppressant medicines (e.g. PPIs) do not stop reflux. They only stop acid. Reflux must be controlled by lifestyle modifictions as described here: sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Things people get wrong (eve some doctors)! 1. Trigger foods don't cause reflux. (Some may cause heartburn in some people.) Learn about reflux here: sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
I stopped taking statins a few weeks ago and now my cricopharyngeal dysfunction appears to ave improved. I can swallow again. And I found this study; pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... (12/60 members on statins in the FB group also notice reduced motility.)
A member of our Facebook group is running in next year's London Marathon to raise funds for @OPA charity. He is looking for sponsors here: 2027tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/phil-miller
Did you know reflux can affect your eyes? See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
It's not just heartburn! From surveys conducted in 2023 with 200 refluxers who had developed the potentially pre-cancerous condition, Barrett's Oesophagus, 48% of women and 22% of men did not experience heartburn, whence it may be called "Silent Reflux". www.academia.edu/105279189/Id...
It's not just heartburn! "Even once he’d developed an unexplained cough and had lost interest in food, doctors continued saying the cough was nothing to worry about." "Dan died six weeks after the diagnosis" www.gbnews.com/health/cance...
In last week, many new members realising tinnitus, dizziness, hearing problems, earache etc due to their reflux. It also affects throat, mouth, nose. See sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Taking a statin break because: 1. Restless legs worse 2. LDL never high in summer 3. No heart problem (confirmed by cardio) 4. Only "stroke" was minor lacunar infarq caused by angiogram Should I tell my doctor? Also this: www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
The power of charities together. In 2020, Wales got RFA (to remove Barrett's mutating to cancer) thanks to Barrett's Wales charity. Now, an easier way to detect Barrett's and cancer thanks to HCUK charity. nation.cymru/news/pill-on...
"I am happy to be in this group could already get a lot of information for me Information that I would not get from the doctor" www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
"When I was diagnosed last January, I immediately went to a dark place. What good fortune to find this group ... Always calming us and there with nothing but helpful info." www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
"I am most grateful for this group. You get more help and suggestions here than from the medical profession. You have helped me understand my barratts [sic] a lot more" www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
This is a very informative group. Keep up the great work you all do. Thanks [x] for all the information you have passed on to me since I was diagnosed with Barrett’s in 2019. www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
"I don’t know what I would do if I hadn’t found this group I was at such a low point when I was diagnosed last year I was terrified." www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
i am so thanksful for this group because it is easy to feel so isolated in time of need so thank you. www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
"This group and the knowledge you have shared with us has lessened the amount of stress that I was experiencing from my diagnosis of Barrette's. I'm very thankful I found this group." www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
"I appreciate ALL the research and Info you share. All of the moderators have helped me to understand and how to enjoy my life." www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
It is rare to find such a group where there is such strong moderation and yet such an abundance of useful and coherent information ... especially for the newly diagnosed who are understandably often stressed and even scared when they first join. www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
This group has been one of the best uses of social media I can think of in my 20 years of using platforms. Clear and concise information, helping me calm down and see the big picture. www.facebook.com/groups/barre...
Not all FB groups are the same. "I don’t know what I would do if I hadn’t found this group I was at such a low point when I was diagnosed last year I was terrified." www.facebook.com/groups/barre... 16,500 members and rising daily.
Looking for recipients of TIF, MUSE etc to take a very short anonymous survey for the ongoing CERT (Comparative Efficacy of Reflux Treatments) study. If you know anyone, please direct them to www.surveymonkey.com/r/RZH83XD
My doctor keeps telling me I have CVD even though the cardiologist insisted I "categorically don't have hert disease!" But he wants an excuse to keep me on statins and get a bonus for doing so. I probably have Roemheld's Syndrome - but he'snever heard of that. sites.google.com/view/down-wi...
Comparative Efficacy of Reflux Treatments I had been thinking of writing a paper on this but drew ire from worshippers of RefluxStop who think it would answer all their problems. The chart summarises my findings drafted here: sites.google.com/site/robichr...
