Great to present a keynote on ICCARP at the World Aging & Rejuvenation Conference in Prague. As ageing research advances, a common language to classify ageing-related pathologies is becoming ever more important. That's what ICCARP is working to deliver. #Ageing #Aging #Geroscience #ICCARP #ARC2026

ICCARP is in sunny Oxford this week for the 55th BSG Annual Conference. We will be presenting an update on the consortium's work in the 'Measurement and Classification' session on Friday. If you're attending, please come and say hello. #BSG2026 #Gerontology #AgeingResearch

Over 400 ageing researchers. One unified mission. Today, ICCARP launches its new platform, dedicated to rewriting how ageing-related pathologies are classified, staged & treated worldwide. The reclassification of ageing begins here: iccarp.org #Geroscience #Aging #Ageing #Longevity #ICD11

🦉The owl's visit paid off Ended up in the top 10 HE employees in the Duolingo Language Challenge. Cardiff Met took 4 spots, including 1st place. Awards given in Parliament last week... Good timing with the UK rejoining Erasmus+. Education & research transcend national boundaries.

New paper from my student, Shasha Yu, which finds a paradox in AI risk: students with technical training have higher awareness of AI risk, but are no better at recognising these in real-world scenarios. They also report greater willingness to adopt AI. 🔗https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ssaho.2026.102751

The findings indicate that current training in risk literacy is likely too abstract, with a need to move beyond teaching general ethical principles toward applied scenario-based training. Congratulations to Shasha Yu and co-supervisor Fiona Carroll.

🧠 Is pineal gland senescence an ageing-related pathology? In this new paper ICCARP review human evidence of structural & functional changes of the pineal gland with age. 📄https://doi.org/10.1007/s42000-025-00720-9 #Ageing #Aging #CircadianBiology #Geroscience #Hormones #Senescence #Endocrinology

Delighted to announce that I will be delivering a keynote at the 2026 World Aging & Rejuvenation Conference in Prague on the progress of ICCARP on the classification of ageing-related pathologies and its implications for research and healthcare. Details to follow. #aging #ageing #senescence

Thank you to Health and Care Research Wales for their support this year, which enabled me to spend dedicated time working with the team at the Wales Kidney Research Unit at UHW. This support helped define the groundwork for my future research on kidney preservation for transplantation.

Monasteries & cathedrals with 1,500 years of history, and half-a-billion-year-old rock formations. After 5+ years in Cardiff, I finally visited West Wales. As I work on ageing and preservation, I have to wonder what it would take for lifespans to reach these timescales.

The Natural History Museum in London is a true cathedral of science. The architecture alone is breathtaking! The words on Darwin’s plinth capture its spirit perfectly: "Freedom of thought is best promoted by the gradual illuminations of men's minds, which follows the advance of science."

Facebook reminded me that 16 years ago I started my research career working on neural control systems for Mars rovers with @esa.int as an RA for Prof. Cangelosi & Dr Peniak. I couldn’t have hoped for better mentors! 📸 ESA Mars Yard 2010 #Throwback #ResearchLife #MarsRover #SpaceScience #ESA

🧏 New paper on ageing of the audiovestibular system from ICCARP. A global effort with 34 experts 🌍 We recommend removing presbycusis (AB54) as a standalone dx + using AB51 with severity codes. 🔗https://doi.org/10.1007/s11357-025-01742-2 #ageing #aging #senescence #gerontology #hearinghealth

Congratulations to ICCARP colleague Dr Emma Short on the one-year anniversary of Healthy Gut, Happy You! 🎉 Here’s my copy. Congratulations, Emma, on producing such a clear, engaging, and accessible introduction to the microbiome. 🦠 #healthyguthappyyou #guthealth #healthygut #microbiome
