"Something should be very clear. The Conservatives can’t claim a mandate to impose a slash-and-burn agenda on BC after a campaign where they kept their leader, their candidates and their whole platform from scrutiny."

"BC’s labour movement fought hard for workers over the last nine years, and the last thing any of us needs is to reverse course. We're going to keep fighting to make progress for working people, no matter who’s in government." Read our full news release here: bcfed.ca/news/release...

From @electionsbc: You're entitled to "a four-hour period free from work during voting hours. Time off may be at the beginning or end of an employee’s shift, or unnecessary if normal working hours already provide enough time free from work to vote."

Nobody has to tell working people that there's room for improvement. We're fighting for it every day. But we're making progress. And if BC turns back, there's a long list of people who'll be hurting.

Times are challenging (and they're even tougher in provinces run by conservative governments). That's a reason to fight even harder — not to make it harder to fight. We hope you'll vote to continue moving ahead.

Underneath their new coat of paint, it's the same old gang. The party that was parading Christy Clark yesterday in Surrey is the same party that devastated workers' compensation, tore up contracts, let the housing crisis fester and gave BC sixteen years of destruction.

With the NDP, we've gone from the back of the pack to having Canada's highest provincial minimum wage, fastest-growing wages and some of the strongest labour laws and standards in the country.

Or, if BC chooses differently, we get a party with a clear track record: slashing the services and protections working people depend on, attacking workers and dragging us backward.

Extreme fringe views aren't so fringe inside the BC Conservatives. Alberta just dealt with their western separatists. Meanwhile Lorne Doerkson introduced and thanked his from the floor of the BC Legislature.

The BC Conservatives have kept their candidates under wraps — and no wonder. From bizarre beliefs to dangerous disinformation, these are people you don't want anywhere near power. #BCPoli #BCLab #BCElection

The very first thing conservatives do in power is clamp down on workers. It's what they did the last time: Make it harder to organize, especially for low-wage workers. Tear up contracts. Erode the right to strike. We have just over 48 hours to stop them. Let's do it. #BCPoli #BCLab #BCElection

The last time these guys got into power, they tore through workers’ compensation and workplace safety. Slashed eligibility, so fewer injured workers could make claims. Cut compensation. Brought in new rules that often forced them back on the job before they’d recovered. #BCLab #BCPoli #BCElection

Arguably worse was what they did to prevention, firing hundreds of staff, loosening the rules and slackening enforcement. All so their corporate friends could pay lower premiums — causing unspeakable hardship to injured workers and endangering thousands more. They’ll do it again. Don’t let them.

We know the playbook. We've seen these guys in action over and over again. That Conservative $2-billion back-door health care cut? It's just the beginning if they get in. This Saturday's our last chance to stop that from happening. #BCLab #BCPoli #BCElection

The BC Conservatives kept their platform under wraps until just days before the election... and now we know why. It's a sham. They've cooked their own books. #BCLab #BCPoli #BCElection

You know how it works if they get elected. When they can't make it work and something needs to give, they cut health care. Education. Anything that helps everyday people get a fairer shake. That's on top of their plan to jack your car insurance through the roof.

Here's one more reason we have to stop the BC Conservatives. Health care workers are warning us: setting up a parallel private health care track like Alberta's doing is a road to disaster.

So when the BC Conservatives refuse to share their health care plans (with the election just one week away!)... ...and when they haven't told us how they'll close that $5-billion hole they'll blow in the provincial budget... ...AND when they talk about drawing inspiration from Alberta...

Here's one more reason we have to stop the BC Conservatives. Health care workers are warning us: setting up a parallel private health care track like Alberta's doing is a road to disaster.

Shifting health care resources to those who can afford to pay doesn't reduce demand on the public system. It just means a more lucrative private system draws health care workers away... making your wait times even longer, or forcing you to pay out of pocket.

BC's car insurance system delivers affordable rates that save drivers hundreds of dollars. But it won't stay that way if the Conservatives get their hands on it. #BCLab #BCPoli #BCElection

While Lorne Doerkson was telling you he had no plans yet for ICBC, he was telling industry something very different. In a secret letter, he revealed a plan to open the doors to giant insurance companies and trial lawyers. That's the system they have in Alberta — where premiums are twice as high.

Since the NDP was elected, the average hourly wage in BC (including the equivalent for workers earning a salary) has risen faster than in any other province. It's now the highest of all the provinces. And that's taking inflation into account. Yes. Higher than Alberta. Where wages have shrunk.

It's because of changes we fought for and won with the BC NDP: "highest minimum wage in Canada, one-step certification for unions, insourcing health jobs privatized by previous BC Liberal govts and more. It's a safe bet a BC Conservative govt would move to undo all those wage boosters."

After this debate, the choice is clearer than ever: Do we want a government with a real plan to make life better in BC, or the same old right-wing party with nothing to offer working people but cuts and closures? For workers, the choice is David Eby and the BC NDP. #BCLab #BCPoli #BCElection

Mr. Doerkson had one job in this debate: tell British Columbians how he'd close that massive hole his tax cut scheme will blow in the budget without cutting health care, jobs and services. And even given opportunity after opportunity to explain, he wouldn't — he dodged it every time he was asked.

Every time conservatives say they'll cut taxes without cutting services, they turn around and slash them to the ground. And tonight it’s obvious that’s exactly what they’re planning.

Working people tonight saw a leader in David Eby who's speaking to our day-to-day concerns: better public health care, affordable housing, fairer taxes and good jobs. And critically, he's the only leader who's brought a fully costed plan to the table for making those plans real.

He made a convincing case for re-electing a government that works with working people. Just as important, he made the case that the Conservatives would be a disaster for workers. And in that, he had an ally on the stage: Lorne Doerkson.

Today's announcement from Premier David Eby and the BC NDP represents a major step forward in women's health. His plan takes action in several crucial areas, helping to remove barriers many women face in getting the care they need at every stage of their lives. #BCLab #BCPoli

It's a big contrast with the BC Conservatives and their plan, where education and health would "bear the brunt" of budget cuts — all to pay for their tax plans, and the $3-billion hole they'd blow in BC's budget.
