Flying under the radar, A Talent for Murder is fiction which asks "what if Talented Mr. Ripley Author, Patricia Highsmith, was convinced to write one more Ripley novel before she died?" and I found that question fascinating. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/a-ta...

I really enjoyed Clayface, Faustian comic book story wrapped up in body-horror. But be warned, it is as gruesome as they say. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/clay...

A lot of new movies at the box office this weekend and Wicker is another good one. It has a lot to say about relationships and community while being a charming and delightful movie. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/wick...

While I'm on Dolly's collaborations, her From Here to the Moon and Back from the film Joyful Noise, is far better than the movie. This features vocals from Jeremy Jordan and Kris Kristopherson. She would later go on to rerecord it as a duet with Willie Nelson. youtu.be/ANwBfHM4sDs?...

The adult animated queer adventure Jim Queen is now playing in limited cinemas across Canada. Go see it if you have the chance. boxd.it/gyLikr

This year's Palme d'Or winner, Fjord starring Sebastian Stan hits cinemas this weekend and was a mixed bag for me with more I didn't like than did. My thoughts below. boxd.it/gCDkPB

Finally my thoughts on the masterpiece that is Wildwood. Please go see this in cinemas. We all line up for new Avengers movies or another Toy Story or we could support original movies like this that are amazing. It opens Friday. Please go see it! allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/wild...

Before I get to my favourite new film of the week I will share about one that didn't quite work for me despite having some interesting ideas. The Rose of Nevada was a misfire for me. My thoughts below. boxd.it/gP2fWF

Continuing my 2026 Canadian Film Rewatch Project with the comedy classic Strange Brew because it's October (the film is set during Octoberfest) and because I'm thinking a lot about being Canadian today and wanted to celebrate something good about it. boxd.it/gPBfSt

While I am on the theme of Dolly's best collaborations I always love her 2001 duet with Paul Cole, Heart Door. Listen and tell me this isn't a beautiful song. youtu.be/8RJ0ArVwMr4?...

A new film version of Sense and Sensibility is out and while it doesn't live up to the famous Ang Lee film it is still a good watch. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/sens...

Put it Off Until Tomorrow was written by Dolly as a teen collaboratively with her uncle who was a professional musician. She has recorded it many times often as a duet. My favourite version is one she did with Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn (what a legendary trio!). youtu.be/Gtw_3VIhtgk?...

While I am on a Cronenberg kick with my 2026 Canadian Film Rewatch Project, I'll continue with my all time favourite Cronenberg film A History of Violence. boxd.it/gILKIL

It's spooky month so for my 2026 Canadian Film Rewatch Project, I'm revisiting the Canadian horror master, David Cronenberg and his 1981 classic Scanners. boxd.it/gHMHGv

For the 2nd time in 2 years a Hollywood director has tried to remake Kurosawa's High and Low. Last time it was Spike Lee and now it is Ben Affleck. Both missed the mark but there are still interesting ideas here. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/anim...

Does the Matchbox movie prove Hollywood learned the wrong lessons from Barbie? My thoughts on that below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/matc...

About 30 years after Islands in the stream, Dolly and Kenny released You Can't Make Old Friends, a lovely song about love and loss which hits different now that they are both gone. youtu.be/chBNBzE35EI?...

The first film directed by James McAvoy hits theatres this weekend and it's a fun time. If you get a chance to see it, it's worth going to see. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/cali...

It’s spooky season so I’ll continue my 2026 Canadian Film Rewatch Project with a film that is about (sort of) the master of suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock. While not a thriller Le Confessional follows the making of I Confess. boxd.it/gFshNx

In 2016 Dolly, Emmylou and Linda released their final Trio project, one that was a collection of the previous albums along with unreleased content. From this we got the alternative take of the Dolly penned Wildflowers, a song that is often seen as a queer anthem. youtu.be/oTZ3hxW76BA?...

Now that the film festival is over I can go back to our regular scheduled movie releases. Digger is a bold swing that is audacious and sometimes messy but unforgettable and contains a bitter pill to swallow. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/10/digg...

The success of Dolly's collaboration with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris called Trio in the 80s lead to Trio II in the late 90s. Their gorgeous cover of Neil Young's After the Goldrush is my favourite version of the song. youtu.be/ykMzS6ugnPI?...

For the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation I am continuing my 2026 Canadian Film Rewatch Project with 2021's Beans, set during the Oka Crisis exploring a young Mohawk girl's coming of age. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2021/08/bean...

Since finishing Return of the Jedi in my 2026 Star Wars Rewatch Project I've rewatched the the shows set between trilogies and The Mandalorian and Grogu which holds up as a fun adventure story that captures so much of what I love about Star Wars. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/05/the-...

Dolly released three "Trio" albums with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The first in 1987 featured the hit Those Memories of You, a traditional country song that is brought to life by these harmonies. The video features Harry Dean Stanton. youtu.be/HRqOcPBLR7g?...

Below are my thoughts on the new film about Canadian legend Ken Carter, starring Jay Baruchel, Ed Helms, and Ben Foster. In cinemas now. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/09/the-...

It's Dolly Day (9/25) so I'm going to share my all time favourite Dolly song. This is a song that I always stop and listen to and that I find myself humming all the time. Also (since it's 9/25) it comes from her 9to5 album. But You Know I Love You, my favourite Dolly song. youtu.be/HhWbmbGX5Ts?...

I wanted to go back and explore Dolly's disco era back in the last 70s. What a time this was. Her Baby I'm Burning was a big hit on the pop charts in its day and preceded her big smash hits 9to5 and Islands in the Stream. youtu.be/hggOR1HMx9M?...

Since I'm enjoying Lanterns so much I thought I'd revisit 2011's Green Lantern movie. Man this film gets a bad rap. While not great it's no worse than most superhero movies put out by Marvel. It actually has some things to like about it too. boxd.it/grW2u5

I've been doing my Canadian Film Rewatch Project for over a year now and I haven't outright hated a film so far... until Night Zoo, one of the more homophobic films I've ever seen and its certainly one of the most melodramatic. This film is best left to the dustbin of history. boxd.it/gnHSFt

When I first saw Obsession, I didn't love it. The concept was incredible but parts of it are better than others. It became a phenomenon and I gave it another chance. Rewatching it its stilla deeply flawed film that has a lot of strengths but some serious propblems. My reasons below. boxd.it/epjllJ

I had a lot of fun at the new Resident Evil movie. Never saw one before but this one isn't connected in anyway to the previous ones. It might jump the shark at the end but it was still fun. My thoughts below. allnewthatmoviesite.blogspot.com/2026/09/resi...

One of my all time favourite Dolly songs is The Bargain Store, from its powerful rhythm to its painful lyrics to her incredible vocals, the song has always been amazing. youtu.be/D1TXnTjbf4A?...
