I want to see these in the Bend Central District!

This is Vancouver's very first proposal to build a low-rise, multi-unit residential building on a small single-family lot under the new single-staircase building rules. A 6-storey, wood-frame building with 24 family-sized units. #vanre #vanpoli dailyhive.com/vancouver/21...

I hate that one of my first thoughts when we moved next to a school was “I hope there’s never a shooting there” I hate even more that I was wrong.

Security theater, work edition: The process for logging in to one of the key work tools I use for work requires up to six steps which can all be easily bypassed by having my phone.

A few years ago I gave ChatGPT the prompt "Create a map of Deschutes County Oregon split into 5 districts with relatively equal population based on the 2020 census" and the results were pretty bad. I tried again today and things haven't improved:

The Sounders seem to be hell-bent on building a soccer-specific stadium in Renton. If only there were a few hundred acres that had direct access to the Light Rail and could easily be developed into a stadium and a ton of housing...

The Sounders held their Annual Business Meeting on Saturday. The biggest topic of discussion was around the possibility of moving to Renton. We discussed it all here: www.sounderatheart.com/2026/09/key-...

Buying a handful of Disney Blu-rays off eBay is cheaper than a month of Disney+

Besides, whenever I go visit my friends who have kids, they're always watching the same movie. Just buy your kid a damn physical copy of Moana and save yourself a monthly subscription.

I’ve actually started creating TV stations from the DVD content I own

We are collectively like 1 bad event away from people starting up Analogue TV stations again. The people crave authenticity. Something's gotta give.

I’ll come out and say it. I really dislike the zigzag bookshelves in the Central Library. They are poorly designed and make it more difficult to find what I’m looking for.

So the robots might kill my kids before the environment does. Lovely!

In a lot of ways, the environmentalism of my parents' generation didn't ask anyone to sacrifice anything. People still drove (but it was a Prius), lived in the burbs (but with a beautiful garden), bought supermarket food (but bought organic). It was an aesthetic choice as much as anything. 🧵

Three great reported essays on the inter generational conflict over housing and active transportation, particularly in Northern California: First, a Berkeley-raised writer’s exploration of his parents’ generation’s complicated feelings about the proposed apartments and the Hopkins bike lane:

After years of service our large heirloom plastic popcorn/bread making/vomit Tupperware bowl was retired today. In lieu of flowers we ask for you to make donations to your local food bank.

This is the built environment surrounding the author's place of employment. See the problem? That's right, too many e-bikes.

You're the dean of a public health department and *this* is the first time you've thought about America's built environment? www.forbes.com/sites/bernad...

Current (likely unpopular) opinion of the moment: Everyone should just use a 24-hour UTC clock. It doesn't matter if you're having lunch at 12:00 or 19:00 or 03:00 but having a consistent clock when scheduling meetings across multiple timezones would be immensely helpful.

I’m willing to bet the entire NO crowd combined have fewer than 5 children.

It's not institutional investors, short term rentals or some other bogeyman. This is what our housing crisis looks like - a room full of angry people here to say NO to housing

Work six months ago: We're introducing [AI tool] and encourage everyone to use it for everything. Have it write your emails, have it manage meetings, AI, AI, AI! Work today: Please keep an eye on your usage and use [AI tool] thoughtfully, especially for repeated or resource-intensive requests.

Little things that bring me joy: Last night I was able to listen to a CBC radio station originating from Calgary (almost 600 miles away).

I graduated college in 2009 and moved to Seattle. I applied to 500+ jobs before getting a job as a bank teller that required a high school diploma.

2008 was the opposite of today. It was terrifyingly bad for the investor class. For everyday people not much really happened.

"Fall has arrived in Seattle. Crisp, clear, sunny" Apparently the AppleTV announcers know literally nothing about a calendar or weather in Seattle
