Monica Smit, shill for One Nation, false claimer of credit for ending GVT in Victoria, and infamous for telling old people they should be happy to die of covid as long as her personal desires aren't curtailed, now thinks she can - apparently singlehandedly - end mandatory voting in Australia.

This is about as blatant a grift as it gets. Monica Smit, shill for One Nation and famous for telling old people they should be happy to die, now thinks she can end mandatory voting - and wants people to help her do that.

So, in order to lease this new place my daughters need to be signatories (because of shenanigans regarding my income). BUT, because they will be signatories, I am not eligible for a grant to help pay my first month's rent. It doesn't matter if they're not paying rent at all.

OMG finally! After four months I've been able to find somewhere to live. It's much further out than where I am now, but this is the only accessible property out of dozens I've applied for that's prepared to give me a go.

I've been trying for 3 months to find a new rental place. Because of my disabilities, I need somewhere on the ground floor, with a walk-in shower, and secure storage for my mobility scooter. There aren't a lot of places that have this, and I've applied for every one I've found. Over a dozen. 1/2

And I have been rejected every time. I don't know why and there's no way I can find out. Those places have likely gone to able-bodied people who have far more options than I do. So here I am, running hard up against a deadline, with no fucking prospects at all.

HELL YES. Tickle v Giggle appeal judgment: The judges found that Tickle was DIRECTLY discriminated against by the Giggle app and Sall Grover. They have awarded Tickle $20,000 damages, and ordered Giggle to pay her costs. Giggle's appeal against the judgment was dismissed.

Angus Taylor lies. Migrants aren't coming here in droves and going straight on benefits. Benefits are only accessible to a few special groups of non-citizens, primarily permanent residents and humanitarian visa holders. And even then it's a wait of several years.

There is so much built-in prejudice against disabled folk when it comes to renting. Not only do we have to wade through dozens of properties to find the tiny handful that might be accessible for us, we have to deal with agents who don't accept when we've authorised someone to do inspections.

The worst part of it is that I'm 90% sure this is oblivious privilege at work. People without disabilities don't have to worry about stairs, whether the shower is over the bath or walk-in, etc. They don't have to organise carers to help them get to and conduct inspections.

The Labor government has many choices to cut spending. It could tax the wealthiest individuals or force corporations to pay their fair share of tax. It could penalise the most egregious frauds and grifters. It could tax natural gas exports. It could assess what we really need for defence. 1/-

And let's be clear. We've all contributed to the funds allocated to NDIS participants. We've all paid the taxes, direct and indirect. We have as much right to ask that the society we've supported also supports us. 5/-

Bad faith reporting and callously bigoted political agendas have created the fiction that disabled people are 'unworthy', a 'drain on the system', 'useless'. We are your friends. Your families. Your bosses and your employees. Your children. We. Deserve. Support. 6/6

NDIS participants are not 'welfare dependents'. We are people in genuine need trying to do our best to be productive members of society. We're not rich, living high on the taxpayer hog. That's the 1%, the obscenely wealthy who produce nothing and give nothing back. 3/-

The numbers are clear. The NDIS assists people in contributing economically to society, to enriching everyone's lives. Even more, the NDIS is a living demonstration of the principle that no one's life should be measured by how much money they can put in government coffers. 4/-

Instead, it wants to punch down on the most disadvantaged. It wants to remove from people in genuine need the scheme it originally established to lift them up and help them live independent, meaningful lives. It wants to put the most vulnerable of us even more at risk. 2/-

Got told yesterday I'd finally get my new bed between 10am and 2pm today. Called company at 2.30pm. Told I'd get a notification when driver was nearby. Called at 4.30pm. Told the delivery would take place between 5.30-6pm. What, I ask you, is the fucking POINT of a delivery window?

For fuck's sake, #NDIS, why the hell would you allocate all the funds I need except for ONE FUCKING CENT?? I'm trying really hard not to see this as you giving me the finger for daring to want to use some of my funding, but I'm not succeeding.

Trump’s shoe test borders on humiliation ritual. They appear much too big on most of the recipients, and with their pants hemmed to match the president’s absurdly short length, it’s comical. One might assume that Trump purchases the incorrect sizes on purpose. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/who-...

democracydocket.comWho will be the first to take off their shoes?Across Washington, D.C., a new fashion trend has taken hold of those in Trump’s circle: embarrassingly oversized clown shoes.

I just watched Louis Theroux's doco on the 'manosphere', and ... wow. I need a shower. What a pathetic mix of sad man-children posers. They'd be pitiable if they weren't pushing such a dangerous message.

Trump on the possibility of American casualties as a result of the attack on Iran: "That often happens in war." This is the galaxy brain in charge. This idiot. #IranWar
