This is my first Christmas song, FIRST solo release EVER, & my first release since losing my husband & creative partner almost five years ago. It’s a sad song, but I think many people who have experienced some kind of loss will relate to it. It also reminds us of what is important.

I tip. I tip fat. I tip every time, even when the service is bad. I tip servers, bartenders, Lyft drivers, hair dressers, food delivery, spa services. But I don’t believe people should be asked to tip on retail purchases. I’m not tipping unless tips are part of the pay structure.

But don’t confuse this with I Don’t Tip. Because after 7 years in food service and 9 years in salons, I understand how it works & what is needed. My late husband was a bartender for 29 years. We preached tipping well! It’s just that tipping has become something everyone wants, & it’s too much.

The grocery store, fast food, gas stations, concession stands, coffee shops do not have their wages supplemented by tips like servers and bartenders. I’m not tipping if I stand up or sit in my car to order and receive my order.

Since the pandemic (when food service was considered essential AND suffered low engagement), it seems like EVERYBODY decided to start asking for tips. The bud tender getting paid $20/hr. The retail clerk getting paid $15/hr. The mechanic getting paid $24/hr.

The food industry is the only industry allowed to violate labor law to pay less than minimum wage, with employers outsourcing their labor wages to customers on top of goods purchased, instead of calculating them from profits like everybody else.

I am on economic strike against the Republican Regime that is trying to dismantle our Constitution with an unelected oligarch. Nonessential spending has been frozen. My participation in the economy is my value as a citizen because women are disenfranchised. So, get by without me.

I have given up caffeine. I have given up Walmart. I have given up religion. I have given up family. I have given up on being anyone else’s idea of right/good. I have given up on other people meeting my needs. I gave it up, but I kept moving forward & growing. I’m not the one missing out.

H.R.8281 - The SAVE Act passed the HOUSE. It requires a birth certificate & ID with matching names in order to vote.THERE ARE NO CONCESSIONS FOR NAME CHANGES FOR MARRIAGE-married women that have taken their husband's last name WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE. Change your name back asap.
