i just went through my media tab and realized i haven’t posted almost any pictures of 3/5 of my cats so i’m gonna do a pinned thread about my cats

we do weekly nfl predictions at work at get a prize if we get the most right each week and i thought i was doomed after being 3-5 after the first 8 games but i got all the 4 pm ones right and both night games right in holding out hope that im gonna go in tm and see that i made the top 2

i fucking hate the pokémon card market. i would love to get into having pokemon cards. i'd never play the actual card game but id like to have some little guys. however the shit is always sold out everywhere and i'm not gonna go and shell out a bil to have some guys yk.

i wish they'd come out with like *NOT VIABLE IN COMPETITIVE PLAY* editions of the cards or special *ILLEGAL TO RESELL* packs of cards just for normies to purchase and trade amongst each other like the original purpose of the fuckin thing was

if i could take one trip back in time i would go to 1994 to start writing and shopping harry potter but this time id make it actually good

i've spent a lot of time over the last couple weeks thinking about harry potter and i'm just in disbelief that a writer this bad became this rich and influential. the stories reach like generously 30% of their true potential.

and i think partially this shortcoming is what allowed the fan community to blossom so much and make the series so popular! theres so much fanfic bc theres so much narrative empty space that creates solid writing prompts but the story itself is the least interesting direction to take these concepts.

there are a lot of good ideas here. lots of things you could mine a lot of quality content out of. most of them are either ignored or poorly executed.

thinking about stuff: i get that it's annoying that gen z are so moralizing about every little thing and every media property but what older people need to understand is that we've never lived in a time without constant pervasive culture war nonsense

we have never experienced a world in which an adaptation choosing to make a character a different race or gender didn't result in a widely broadcast smear campaign and death threats. the ensuing shitstorm from rue being black in the hunger games movies happened before most zoomers 10th birthday.

that's gonna reframe the way a whole generation sees media. the star wars movies for our generation were plagued with this shit. every remake or reboot of something our parents loved when they were our age is contaminated. you couldn't discuss your interests without this shit creeping in there.

i would wager that a majority of zoomers learned about the war on christmas, whether sincerely or satirically, before they knew anything about like. the vietnam war or the first world war.

the main thing that we should be able to agree on in regards to jacob geller is that it is wrong that this was drudged up by internet sleuths and that the decision on whether this story would be told should've been left up to the victim

if you can believe in rehabilitation for literal murder but draw the line at gendered violence it looks like you're just trying to tally the points on the oppression card and come out on top. it looks like you have a lust for the spectacle of vengeance but want to funnel it into ""woke"" channels.

i know it is infuriating to see so much sexual violence go unpunished and unatoned for in this world but i promise that if we crucified rapists it wouldn't reduce the crime any more than our war on drugs has actually harmed drug trafficking and if you're on this app you're smart enough to know that.

i loved the guys videos, he's really insightful, i don't think i can support him anymore with the currently available information. i also think that, if what he claims in his statement is true, he doesn't deserve to be stoned to death in the streets, because i believe in rehabilitation.

obviously we have to take his account with some skepticism. but the bloodthirst of many otherwise progressive people when it comes to sexual assault is deeply disheartening. it makes you look like you're virtue signaling. i hate to use that phrase but it's true.

the way people on here hate on things just because they're popular or new without even honestly engaging with them is genuinely like 2015 reddit level i hate it so much
